Installing Test Themes for SMF Demo Site.

So i decided that i am going to create a forum using SMF.
I have to wait until tomorrow before i can purchase my domain, so i don't know where i can put up a test site??

I decided to use this site here:  forum-software .org /demo/simple-machines-2
So  I can mess around with free themes.

When i try to install the theme, it will install sucessfully,  and then when i apply it in the drop down menu, the site turns into "Rich Text" with blue text in Times roman lol.

Does the demo site not allow free templates??? i can't seem to install one.
I download the folder for a theme, and they i compress it in a zip file. (Mac Pro)
Then i "brows files" for the wipe file and install it, but it does not work.

WHat am i doing wrong?

I really want to install themes so i can "Modify" some free ones in Photoshop, and test them all until i can buy my own domain.

Can anyone give me advice on how i can install live themes so i can test different things??

Colin:
It very well might be the site that you are demoing the forum on. You might want to simply purchase your hosting and then register a free .co.cc or other free domain to test a forum out on before buying the domain.

The given link takes me to a google search page.

Didn't see the gaps.

Old Fossil:
The demo site you link to does not belong to sm.org.

thankyou, the only theme i was able to download was a theme on SMF itself,

I noticed my browser downloads these themes folders,
so instead,
i right clicked the link, and tried "Download File As" onto the desk top hoping it wouldn't automatically Un archive, and sure enough a simple
"index.php.zip" file was on my desk top, and i was able to install it.

So first off, Why do most of these Sm2f theme sites create themes that are downloaded by folder?
Doesn't all the content within the folders need to be compressed into a zip file?
I have attempted to compress them, but they do not work, i assume because i compress them to .zip only, how do i make them .php.zip?

and lastly, i REALLY REALLY appreciate your help guys, fast response and all.
I currently run my own website for photography, and i have unlimited server space from blue host, with the ability to host many different domains on a single account.

How do i create a free domain? what is this co.cc domain thing?? I've never here'd or done this before, but i would like to know how.
If i make a co.cc.,
i will have to upload the SMF2 main file to the free domain linked to my server first, before i begin to do some work with themes correct?
