Paranoid to change Default theme - please help.

Hi SMFers,
I am about to change my primary theme, but I am affraid: so far I used the Default one because I was affraid that mods and updates and other things that I add are best delt with Default one. My question is: am I right or am I just paranoid? Does it matter if I use some other there or it really is best to use the Default one? How do the mods handle this? Is there any good reason to stick with default one?

Any thoughts will help me decide whether to go for different theme - I would really like to have a unique looking forum.

Thanks again.

First-off, read my sig and get it burned into your psyche... :)

With SMF v2, adding mods should add them to all themes. When you do it, you'll see that it usually, if not always, gives you the option as to which themes it should, or should not, be applied to.

Sadly, I believe that adding themes, after adding mods, will not add the mods to the new themes (If that makes sense?)

Note: I am using SMF 1.1.16, no plan for upgrade to 2.x.

Me, too! :)

In that case, the mods won't install to custom themes. Well, not many, anyway.

You need to look at the parser, on the mod's page, to see what edits need to be made.

Sorry about that, I should've seen that this was in the v1.x board.

Hm...
Should I then just customize the Default theme?
