My site has an ongoing, serious permissions problem.
K@:
When they "can't do it", what errors are they getting, specifically?
Groovystar:
Either the permissions simply don't appear at all for them, as would happen for a rank that is set not to be able to do it, or they are given a standard error that tells them they don' t have permission to access that area.
Not only that, but some members of the global mod rank are able to do some things that other global mods can't. It seems to have to do with how recently the global mods were promoted. Ones promoted more recently have less abilities, despite the fact they are all on the same exact rank and that I have not changed any abilities on these ranks.
I could quote you the more details that my assistant admin gave me on this.
K@:
I wonder...
You know about the problems that can arise from having post-count groups and non-post-count groups?
I wonder if it's that...
If they're in one group that denies them permissions, that could override the other ones.
That's a real pain in the arse, that. It's also why I have no post-count groups on my forum. ;)
Groovystar:
We do have those, but this problem predates them by quite a lot. It's causing numerous problems on our site and I really need it diagnosed and looked at. I think that it is a database problem, something isn't being updated in the database tables when a permission, or member group is changed.

That would be a rather annoying thing...
