Laptop Booting Issues...
(1/1)
Joseph:
Hello, just wondering if anyone here has had this problem...
I've been running a Sony Vaio GR370 for the past year+ and have loved it - no problems at all.
However, recently, it's developed the habit of every so often not booting properly. All I get is a blank screen with what seems to be a console cursor blinking in the upper left corner.
There's no hard drive spinning and no warning lights.
Usually this is solved with a simple power-off power-up.
Also, it only happens after I've put it into hibernation.
This morning however, it doesn't want to fix itself. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)
Joseph:
ok - it just fixed itself when I tried booting it without the power-cord (i.e. just battery power)
odd...

it happened in my father's Acer TravleMate twice ... but I really didn't bother.. I took the battery off then put it back and boot the machine .. and Tadah !! it worked again ...
but if you want the answer on why or how .. sorry I don't know ...
and in case someone knew why I would like to know also ...

I don't think the problem in here .. becasue as I said just after removing the battery and putting it back it worked ... maybe this is something ordinary in laptops !! they take some naps to piss their owners :P

I've never quite trusted hibernation... I've had too many computers refuse to wake up after one.. (although, in theory, it *should* work fine.)
My computer even does the same thing - after just turning it on, sometimes it hangs before starting bootup.
I just live with it... things happen, and it's a crappy computer. (in some ways.)
But... a Sony Vaio? Those are nice - they shouldn't be doing these things :P.
