lost emails
earthasa:
Hi,
I've just set up a new forum, and am having difficulty getting the board emails working. I am testing it with the "Newsletter" function.
I'm using Beta 3.1 public.
I have the message queue enabled, and have tried various settings (currently set to 3 per minute, "0" per pageload" and using smtp (localhost).
I am sending test messages using the newsletter, and sending the message to myself (Member field) as well as to another email address in the Email Addresses field.
Both messages appear in the queue, and it takes a minute plus, but then they both disappear from the queue (at exactly the same time... which doesn't seem right.)
Only one message arrives at its destination, though. The one that I specified with the "Email Addresses" field. The other to the specific member never makes it.
The email address of the member is in the .info TLD domain, is there a bug having to do with that?
The queue emptied all at once (I was refreshing the page) -- did both go out at the same time, and my web host (a free host) discarded a message for that reason?
Thanks for any ideas!
Asa
Jade Elizabeth:
Are there any errors in the logs, and do you have mods installed?
earthasa:
No errors; mods: only languages.
I tried the "Email Delivery Route" check in CPanel on the host and it finds the appropriate MX records.
I am getting messages from this SMF forum correctly at my .info address.
I am starting to think that the problem is with my webhost...
Jade Elizabeth:
It could be, check with your host about emailing permissions, he may have a limit or something misconfigured by mistake :).

try changing it to 1 per page load -- i'm wondering if its causing them to not send out properly.
You will want to contact your host to have them look at the mail logs and determine why they're not being sent. SMF only invokes the email sending -- it does not actually send it itself.
