Customizing SMF > Mod Requests

Member Group Count

At the bottom where it shows the member group, it would be pretty cool to see a number to show how many are part of each group.  Example: Administrator (2)  Global Moderator (3) etc etc

This seems to me (though I have little insight on coding) a pretty simple mod.....anyone have suggestions on how to get it?

It's actually more tricky than you think. The counts are stored in the database, and counting them every page load would be a real resource drain. Instead you'd probably want to add a new column to the membergroups data and cache the numbers somehow.

If however you only want to know the number of people online from each group - that's much easier and less painful!

I was thinking totals....so you can see easily how man forum members, global mods, admins, etc.  Just thinking from say a clans perspective.....You have member groups for clan members, trial member, veteran member, etc....it would be a nice mod to see at a glance how many of each you have.
