Is it possible to convert Kunena 1.7.2 to SMF 2.0.2?

Hi folks, nice to meet you all.

Before start conversions and mess the things with my Kunena online forum, I wonder if the conversion tool for Kunena handles the conversion from Kunena 1.7.2  to SMF 2.0.2. The link doesn't mention what Kunena version it supports to convert, and looking into .sql or .php, it seem to be only from Kunena 1.5.0, but I'm not sure about it.

Does anybody know if it is possible to convert the Kunena 1.7.2  to SMF 2.0.2 on a Joomla 1.5.25?

Thanks in advance.

You can always try on your localhost, only user feedbacks make us know it :) (have back-up)

Hi Antes, I don't use locallhost. I mean, never get to set those computer server like WampServer in my own computer. Too much complicated and never found a great and easy manual for a newbie like me. ;0). Anyway, I don't want to make tests, I want to know if there is some converter able to convert these versions or weren't launched yet.

Have a nice weekend.

That's not exactly the best approach.
Even with the most tested converter you should first do a test to see if the conversion goes well or not in your specific case. At least that's my opinion.

"Setup" a wamp server is as easy as install any other program, you just download something like xampp or similar install, start the control panel and click "start". Done.

BTW, you can even try it directly on-line since the converter takes the data from your current tables without touch anything, so if it fails you can simply delete the SMF tables and you won't notice anything.

Of course backups are always good and highly suggested.

Hi Emanuele,
I agree with you that test are needed to see if all goes ok, but what I meant regarding tests here, was that I have already Kunena forum on-line, and can't mess it once it is working ok, and "I don't want to make tests" to see if SMF will fit or not or will cover my needs. That is why I'm posting here before to do a little research before make up my mind to move to SMF.  ;0)

Thanks for the further info regarding the on-line converter, tables and so on.

Yes, I will use also Akeeba back-up just in case. ;0)
