I'd have to say that, although I've not tried many email marketing services or apps, www.MailChimp.com is by far the best one I've come across, and tonnes of bloggers use it too. I'd go for them, they have a free plan and paid if you want more, but you won't need that to start off with. ;)

As for email marketing software, here are the three software mostly used by the big dogs in marketing : aweber, getresponse, and imnica mail. None of them are free to use, contrary to mailchimp.
However, if you intend to do affiliate marketing, that's impossible with mailchimp.

Last point, I believe you were not asking specifically for a software, but for a system. In that case, maybe you could search for "virarurl"

dada mail is good. It can help you manage your mailing list. It is safe and can send out mass mailings.
