1 000 000 000 - is one billion

It goes like this,
1 - one
10 - ten
100 - one hundred
1 000 - one thousand
10 000 - ten thousand
100 000 - one hundred thousand
1 000 000 - one million
100 000 000 - one hundred million
1 000 000 000 - one billion

I can see where your problem is, you skipped some numbers. You went like this,
100 000 - one hundred thousand
001 000 000 000 - one million

When its really
100 000 - one hundred thousand
001 000 000 - one million

You added three extra 0s ;)

You also added an extra 0 for one hundred million

Either way, thank you for helping me to understand.

Ok, well yea, I added 3 extra 0's than I should, maybe I'll edit that out.

It's just like languages really, not everyone speaks English, and not everyone has the same numerical system :)
