Ban list with SMF
(1/1)
jasonz9238:
I am using smf 1.1.16
I have a lot of bans on the site so I was hoping to just manually edit the file that contains all the ban triggers, can anyone tell me the file user or if the bans are located in the DB?
Colin:
The bans are stored in the database, but there might be a better way to do what you want to do rather than going to the database. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
MrPhil:
You can ban by IP address with entries in your .htaccess file (if on an Apache server). SMF will never see the access attempt, it won't be logged, and the visitor won't be told why they can't get in, but it should be cheaper in resources. In phpMyAdmin you could export the ban table to a CSV file and edit it to keep the IP addresses to merge into .htaccess.
