Where to hire "pro" help for SMF?
(1/1)
hexapus:
Maybe it's as simple as asking in here, "Hey, anyone wanna make a few bucks?", but rather than assume, I'm going to frame it like this.
I've got a friend running SMF 1.1.16, and their web guy pretty much ditched them. A few weeks back, the whole forum went AWOL, and I had to fix up (never having used SMF before, mind you!). I ended up reinstalling over their existing file;s, then copying back their modified ones from backups. Thing is, I have no idea what all needs to be done to get everything working properly again. They had a pretty healthy assortment of mods/packages installed, and I don't even know which are and aren't working at this point.
Specifically, the page management mod won't seem to work no matter what I do (I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times). This means some critical areas of his forum are broken. I think he'd be willing to pay to have someone who knows what they are doing come in and just sort out all the kinks. Further, it may not be a bad idea to get him upgraded to 2.0 if that's feasible (he is using a custom theme, if that makes a difference)...but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
Thoughts? Anyone wanna clean up someone else's mess here? Is there somewhere else I can post this to get a better response?

If you are looking for someone to do a request you may want to try this board: Help Wanted and make sure to label it [Free] or [Paid].
Orangine:
I will be more than happy to look into this for you, if this is something relatively small and easy to fix I won't even charge you a penny :)
JimM:
As Looking mentioned these type of post are normally located in the Help Wanted (not for support) board. I would move this there but it would be better if you just post a new topic there so that you can mark it appropriately. Once you so that, please mark this topic as solved to remove it from our support queue.
