Topic: [Implemented] another form of notification?

quick idea...

an (optional?) extra enttry near the "Hey, SexySeer, you have 0 messages, 0 are new."
with something like...

"Hey, SexySeer, you have 0 messages, 0 are new. 2 topics you are watching have been updated"

Yea I like that.

I assume it case of marking an "interest" in a thread you like - and if a reply gets made there it tells you next to your message like you described? And when you click on the "2 topics updated" link it would take you to the last post (or first unread post?) for each of those topics

It would be also good, if the numbers would be highlighted red

isnt topic notification sent to IM?
so its just the same thing, isnt it?
if you see something like: you have 2 messages, 2 are new, you'll go check your messages anyway and find out, right?

But some people turn e-mail off. because they don't want to get too much mails. They just want to be notified if they are back to the forum and logged in.

same thing, topics notification goes to IM too, although u disable IM notification (send email for new IMs)
unless if they change this in SMF
