I installed SMF 2 Beta 4 as an upgrade to my existing smf 1.7 and every thing works fine except for the new user approval system.

I get notified there is a new user, but I have to go to their profile to activate them because the usual or what I was used to no longer is available?  You know the section that said send a reminder, etc?

Members awaiting approval...... that's the name of it, the area is there, but when someone registers they don't show up there even though their profile shows they have not yet validated.  It concerns me because I am not so sure they are even getting the email to validate themselves.

If it is screwed up what can I do to get it working?

That's a known bug... See Bug #2577: "Undefined index: totalMembers" when viewing members awaiting activation for the fix.
