Best anti bot measures?

(1/2) > >>

Cudamine:
I'm running under SMF 2.0.2 and having many issues with spam bots, I've tried a few captcha mods but they don't seem to do the trick, is there any mods out there that are really recommended for 2.0.2?

I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask for this, but this situation has been very frustrating so far.

Bad Behaviour: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2502

The inbuilt SMF Question and Answer verification is effective, especially if you set it to ask couple of questions out of a random choice of say 10, but that can be a problem if your site needs multiple languages.

Cathpas are often cracked by bots.  I've turned them off on my site, relying on the Q&A and bad behaviour.

Bad Behavior Mod + Honeypot Project dramatically reduced our bot attacks.  That and getting rid of Captcha and using questions for registration.

the absolute best c.m. is to not have a forum at all

Rivet:
We didn't want to go there, but we finally went to admin approval for new members.  Spammage dropped to zero after which.
