NEW button in post

What would it take to copy the functionality of the NEW button that is on the board index next to new posts... to the header bar of each individual post?  I ask because I have a bunch of users used to Vbulletin with their NEW POSTS button in the header of each individual post... it doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to copy the functionality from the index NEW button and place it somewhere in the header of each post or perhaps a new button next to the REPLY button or something?

Any suggestions?

Nope... that is a NEW TOPIC button... i am looking for a NEW POSTS button to click that would drop you down to the first new post you've not read (same as clicking the NEW button next to each post that is new from the index)...
