uploading backup database

(1/2) > >>

chelseaphil:
I wanted to do some testing of SMF2.0 so I created a new database smftest  and uploaded 1.1.6 to it. I wanted to transfer my existing 1.1.11 database smfold to this and then upgrade to SMF2.0.

I backed up the database from MyphpAdmin

But............ When I import the new database all that happens is that the tables are inserted underneath the original ones. I thought that they should overwrite the smftest ones? Or have a I missed something simple? Thanks in advance.

Orangine:
are you sure they're not the backup ones? with backup_ prefix?

chelseaphil:
When I backup the file I used the system provided my the host server as myphpadmin was not backing up the full database.

The original database is just called smf and that is on 1.1.11
The new database name is smftest

chelseaphil:
Here is a screen dump.

Orangine:
so you have different prefixes on both installations

do you still have the original files? if so, just upgrade the second instance to 2.0.2, there will be no easy way to join both databases
