OK, a brain fart came upon me...

I have a membergroup and I want that group to be able to initiate posts, and then all members can reply, to a specific board.  How do I set that up?

thanks in advance

This is not so easy to do. You can make a board reply only but the only members who can make new topics would be admins, global moderators or moderators, you'd need to promote your members to one of these groups so they could post new topics.

To do anything else would involve a change in your permissions structure which could prove difficult.

There may also be a mod for this type of issue.

You MAY be able to achieve this by using permissions profiles.

I'm not entirely sure how, to be honest, coz it's not something I've ever used, myself.

As I'm just off to bed, I'll have a play, tomorrow, to see if I can figure something out. ;)

I thought one could do this via Membergroup, but I may have been mistaken.  I knew a Moderator could...

I will take a look at Permission Profiles again, but as Chas Large said, probably going the Moderator route may be the only way.

Thanks for your replies!

Well, I've had a look...

If you go to Admin>Permissions>Edit Profiles, you'll see that you can have "Default", "No Polls", "Reply Only" and "Read Only".

You can create a new profile, which you can edit.

Here's the "How and why would I do that, then?":

Hey thanks K@!  I guess I have not been using the proper search terms...

I will try this later today, but it appears to be exactly what I need.

thanks!
