Setting Source Template Functions?

I am modifying SMF 1.1.6 and creating new source files.... how do I associate template functions with source functions?

You use $context['sub_template'] to define what function should be called after the forum header and before the forum footer.

The default is 'main' which means template_main() gets called for the main page content.
