Help : Moving the Forum off the first page ?
(1/1)
Birdy:
I am new to SMF and have tried to search the topics for help but can't find anything that refers...........
I'm having difficulty in moving the posting area off the main page, so that the posting boards don’t show on the first page visitors see.
When I have done this, I am then going to setup a ‘Forum’ button that links to a forum page, hopefully with a ‘?action=forum’ command ??
I have tried editing the index.template file in my theme but I am not having much luck, as I can’t find the function that calls the boards?
Can anyone with more experience give me some help or point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.
Birdy

I agree... my main site is airport-tkd.com and the link to the forum is on that page, which opens airport-tkd.com/forum(/index.php)
If, however, you wanted your main site to be a forum, and just a forum, like www.yourforum.com, then you could create a page (using FrontPage or Dreamweaver or even MS Word) called index.htm and put that in your main folder along side index.php, because all browsers search for .htm (or .html) before .php, so you could have whatever you wanted in that .htm(l) page, and a link from that to your index.php
Plus, with a little work the new page can be made to exactly what you want and have it look like the forum... OR!... you could also open your forum index.php from a browser, and go File->Save As, and save it as a .htm page, that way you can work on that as a template for your new page...
