Do i need webdesign skill to manage an online forum?

1.DO i need webdesign knowledge to do any anything in the forum,even if after it was set up for me by someone?
2.i like the feel of the SMF Forum page that display by session and i would like mine to be so.can i get a step by step guide pdf of how i can create such a forum?

Hi Emma and welcome to Smf :)
To run a forum you do not need designing skills. However if you would like to change the way your forum looks like then you must know at least the basis of html and css. But you can install a ready made theme which does not require any programing language knowledge.
Regarding your second questions, can you please post a screenshot of what you meant?

I so need help with Karma and the answers I am finding is not helpful. I will tell you what I am looking for and would you mind pointing in right direction? I am new, we have a PSP forum with challenges we will be awarding Friendz Points for challenges completed and the Karma that is on the set up won't do it for us. We desperately need some help. The admin will be only one awarding these points (karma)

Welcome to SMF Well, for that function i think a mod is needed. But you can rename the karma to anything u like just incase
