Using CSS for buttons is nice - but you should consider totally different background colors on them. The blue/orange really only worked on a light background, perhaps black and whites?

Good, tanks for asking. :)

Thanks Block and  医生唱片骑师   ;D, I appreciate that greatly!
What I had in mind, to give the menu itself a background.
After this users can change anything they want for this menu ;)
I will do so again, so we see the result of viewing.
And Block, its nice to see you here  ;)

Ah, that sounds like a good move. It look much better now imho, better contrast with the added white background/blue buttons.

Theres so much you can do with CSS3 nowadays too, so imagination is the limit really.

You've got some good ideas there. One minor point is that I'd be inclined to increase the opacity of your drop menus. Having them see through looks groovy and all, but is not good for readability. When I first started playing with drops I thought not being able to read them easily was awesome cool, but I soon changed my mind. :D

If you use rgba colour coding instead of standard hex, you can set opacity on the background without it being inherited by the text. ;)

http://www.css3.info/introduction-opacity-rgba/

Not supported in all browsers at the moment, but has sufficiently good support for a lot of custom theming IMO. You can also provide a basic rgb fallback for less advanced browsers.

Example here.
