How To Increase Forum Traffic

Hello, SMF. Just as a quick introduction, my name is Devon Williams, owner and Administrator of Wrestling Regime.

Since this is my first post, chances are that I may be going against rules or guidelines, but better to bite the bullet and learn from my mistakes. If this is deleted, my mistake.

That being said, my website is Wrestling Regime (dot com) (noticed the spam issue). It's a small site that I need its website traffic to gradually increase since I'm fairly new to running paid websites. I want to also get to the point as to where I can earn revenue, but I don't know how to do that either, so if you can help out in any way possible, that would be greatly appreciated.

To get traffic, you need content that will appeal to the masses.  If your forum is in a market where there are other sites already established you need to find yourself a unique selling point.

You can pay to advertise your forum especially on search engine site, you can try getting links from other relevant sites, all is irrelevant without content.

Find yourself a hardcore group of like minded friends who can help you create that unique content and make the site look active.  Once you have the look of an established site, and you show you have activity in your niche area that appeals to people who would be searching for info, your user base might come.

As for revenue, many sites do run successfully from revenue created by advertising, but you need lots of traffic for this to work.  Google adsense is probably one of the easiest to get an account with, and they will then give you the link code to place on your site.  Beware however, many internet users are becoming increasingly aware.  They don't like the tracking methods used by many advertisers (in the EU and especially UK you will need to make your users very aware of any cookies that such advert systems might add to your site.
