Forum Traffic and Members
« on: May 01, 2012, 12:34:39 AM »
I was just wondering. I my forum has been live for about two weeks. I have submitted it to search engines and what not and I try to post at least once a day. How long does it take to start getting members and what not. I know this varies from forum to forum but I was just wondering of a rough idea possibly... How can I boost this process? I am having t-shirts and car decals made to advertise as well as sent out an invite to ALL my friends on Facebook; What else should I be doing?

Feel free to check out the forum so far! www.myproductivehealth.com

Welcome to SMF,
Remember content is king. Get your friends, family, and most importantly yourself posting away in your forum. No one wants to post in a big, scary empty board. Now coming to the most important issue. You have nearly 40 boards, 38 to be exact. In total you have 35 posts. That is a big no no. Take a look at this as well: http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Many-Forum-Boards-Are-Too-Many?&id=6541304

Mine has been live for a few years and I can tell you, it takes a bunch of patience. Ive learned that it's not good to have too many empty boards. (although some of mine are empty) after about 2 years, I have 60 members, although registration has seemed to pick up in the past few weeks. But hey, that could just be coincedence.

I can say that if you try to get friends and family to post, remember that most won't, atleast that's what I experienced. I don't know if it's because they just aren't interested or if they just don't know how to navigate forums. I would bet on the latter. Most people I interact with say they aren't sure how to navigate a forum, hence.... They don't know where to go in it.

Good luck with your forum and remember to have patience:)
