Some of the files the package manager needs...

Is there any way I can surpass this annoying error message prior to installing a package? It happens to certain packages, but not all - especially those that are adding image files to certain directories.

I've noticed that this has been happening quite a lot since I switched over to a VPS, that connects though SSH port (22). I don't think I even have FTP, so whenever I try to log on using the correct username and password, it just hangs and goes to a white page that declares an error.

Is there a way to surpass this? I tried the whole CHMOD from 755 to 777 deal, didn't do a thing.

Just a hunch (And sorry for the delay)...

Do you have a "temp" directory, inside "Packages"?

Arantor:
A temp folder won't make a difference.

SMF tries to access the folders with a view to writing to them, if it can't it will throw that warning at you, and if you don't have FTP, there is nothing you can do short of making everything less secure.

K@:
It was just a hunch. ;)

I'm not familiar with VPS stuff, so...
