I have been reading a lot, used the search function and tried hard to figure out what the options are. The result is that I'm more confused than ever... :-[

What I want:
*A gallery where the users can upload their photos, embed videos etc. Coppermine is great, but can't see any way to use it for the next wish:
*Random pictures from the gallery to appear on the SMF main page, or at a portal front side used with SMF.
*Resize function if uploading picture is too big must be impemented in the gallery.
*No limitation in the number of pictures a user can upload.

I have tested different things, but with very little knowledge of coding and just as little knowledge in english I haven't found a way to do it.
I see that there is a combination SMF/Menalto Gallery that might work(?), but it only seems to be with old vresions of both.

Does anyone have an idea about how to solve this "problem"?

As I anyway need to start from scratch it wont matter if I use separate or the same database.

Maybe I didn't even post this in the correct forum part, if so please feel free to move it, moderators.

I have a gallery mod for SMF two versions though http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=473 is the lite edition
and then I have the pro edition which contains most of the feature you need by default http://www.smfhacks.com/smf-gallery-pro.php
Where we can do custom code to show in portals on homepage/overal header of your forum.

Thank you for your reply, vbgamer45. I have seen those possibilities, the free version is not an option due to the limitations. The pro...well, I suppose that one will be a good alternative. But, 50$ for one year, isn't it? After that no upgrade or free support?

I am absolutely considering it, though, but if therer is a way of using a free option I would like to see what it is.

Well the license is permanent but for extra updates beyond that is small renwal fee beyond the first year.
If you want to have a demo of it check out createaforum.com and signup for a test forum. I have gallery pro preinstalled on that site
Quick demo site: http://demoforum.createaforum.com  - Username/Password is: demoforum

the AEVA gallery also can do all of that, for free... although the author no longer supports it, there is a fairly string user support group.
