Adding Favicon
(1/1)
ManOfBliss:
Hello,
I added this to the header of my pages:
echo '<link rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" href="favicon.ico" />';
echo '<link rel="icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />';
And I see the favicon on the tab of the browser, but not in the address bar.
What can I do to make it appear?
Thanks,
Timothy
Bigguy:
What pages in SMF did you add that to. There is no need to add anything, at least I never do. Just upload the image and in a little while it will show up.
MrPhil:
Simply uploading to /favicon.ico (assuming it's ICON format and 16x16 pixels) should do the trick (no code or tags needed). Note that different browsers behave differently when you add or change /favicon.ico. It may take them a while to check for a new /favicon.ico, or if you have the site bookmarked it may take erasing the bookmark and adding it in again.
Do other sites' icons show up in the address bar? If not, you might have some setting in the browser that suppresses using the favicon in the address bar. What browser and version are you using? Can you give us a link to your site?
