Hi there hope you can help.
I have installed smf as an app through my web hosting and minutes after setting up I am getting plagued with members joining and spamming.
I am not the brightest spark when it comes to software so please go easy on me.
I am trying to upgrade my smf which is currently 1.1.11 hoping this will stop the instant spam but struggling to understand how to do it, please could you give me a walk through im clueless

Hey there and welcome to smf community! :)

I would suggest not to use auto-install scripts like fantastico in order to install smf in the future, you can install it manually. About spam bots, please take a look at our Spam prevention mods and feel free to use some of them. :)

Do you really want your email address plastered all over the place?

Ok yes that was pretty dumb of me to use my email which then leads onto whats fantastico! Im starting to feel this is a little over my head ive deleted the app from my web hosting, It looked like a great forum to use but my heads spinning shall I just go back to using my simple forum?
