I can replicate it on your forum with the account you provided, but I cannot on any clean install of SMF (not even with the same member IDs).

Most likely a modification you did/installed introduced the bug.

Thanks for looking it over, I really appreciate it! Does anyone have any advice for what my first step should be? Should I uninstall the mods, or just try to reinstall?

Not to do with karma, just registering errors from what I assume are bots trying to sign up.

Are you using MySQL or another type of db? (SQLite or Postgre?)
If you are unsure check the Settings.php file, you should see a line that starts with $db_type.
