What do you think of adding topics from one PR3 board to another?

ApplianceJunk:
I have these two boards that I'm thinking of moving the post from one board to the other, then deleting the one board.

They are both ranked good in google and both show up as PR3 boards.

http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?board=2.0

http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?board=3.0

I would move topics from board=3.0 to board=2.0 and then delete board 3.0

Do you think that would hurt traffic to my site?
Should I look at forwarding the URL from board=3.0 to board=2.0 after I move the post?

Arantor:
I don't think it would hurt traffic - all the topics themselves would be still linked just fine (and indexed just fine, it's not like the URL is changing to topics)

Better question: why would you want to do so?

My boards are set up by appliance manufactures.
A couple years after I started my forum, Whirlpool (board 2) bought out Maytag (board 3).

So I have been thinking of combining the two under one board.

Arantor:
Well, there's been a healthy number of posts under both, I'd personally suggest keeping them if at all possible. It's not always about performance, it is also about how people will find things, and people will navigate looking for Maytag - not everyone knows or cares about things like mergers.

BurkeKnight:
How about making the Maytag board read only, as an archive for their products?
