local image uploader for POST

>> mods for that too
do you mean mods for bots?
Just looked at Aeva Media - way more than I need.
Just a simple upload - even to a default folder would be fine, although being able to create new-folder and browse said-same would be nice...
pretty please

No, mods for letting you use attachments in a post.

REALLY not recommended. It tends to lead to security vulnerabilities. SMF used to do this and not encrypt filenames (so it was browseable) but it lead to an awful lot of hacked forums.
The benefit to Aeva is that you can do things very easily that you can't do easily in other ways, e.g. using a lightbox for the images. Plus it also allows for embedding videos from YouTube very easily (you just post the link and it automatically just deals with it)

I agree with your comments. The situation I am currently setting up is for a relatively small members-only forum and most are not very technical. Having to negotiate Aeva [get there, find the tag, cut-paste, etc] is probably a bit much. I had a bit more of a look at Aeva - very nice.
So...... I will probably code in an upload/insert set of buttons.
I have just had a quick look at the mod page for a WYSIWIG editor...
Again - my users are probably capable of getting to grips with BBC+preview but....
There are similar security issues but - if anyone knows of an existing mod it would save me time adapting one.
I will post results in case anyone is interested.
I am finding SMF pretty easy to get around in. Thank you.

There is a paid version of Aeva too. It doesn't come with much in the way of support, however what it does offer is a button directly in the editor that users can press, upload a file and boom, it puts the code in for you.
There *is* a WYSIWYG editor of sorts in SMF, but it's not very good. It really depends on whether you want users to be able to copy/paste content or not - if not, the paid WYSIWYG editor mod is very strong. Otherwise you're looking at fighting with the bugs in the SMF one.
ChalkCat:
Have a look at the ILA-Inline Attachments mod ;)
