Very nice looking theme. I thik the orange is a bit hard to read but it is a nice theme. I don't like the pop-up to much on the demo site though, lol but thats ok. Nice theme. :)

Look At the sreenshot Click (http://img470.imageshack.us/my.php?image=testth9.jpg).
And also its looks better when the background is fixt?

I love the theme!! I know where to add in the coding to make new buttons in the navigation bar but what is the code I need to put in so they button displays it's name. For example, I would like to put a link in the navigation bar to my chat room. What code do I need to put in to make the link to the chat room? Also, where in the coding do I need to make the change for Home in the navigation bar to say Forum? Thank you in advance for all of your help!!

Hey! It is slightly modified version of RocketTheme (http://www.rockettheme.com)'s Versatility SMF theme. :)

Now, I am able to get it free, and they also shutdown their development of SMF themes.

If you are able to put an option to choose fonts color,, as it was available in Versatility, would we very useful and no doubt, it will take the first place in themes.

First of all i want to say that i love this theme!!

One problem that i find always with this theme, is when i install some mod that add buttons next to Topic, Post, Move... etc... the buttons won´t show up!

For instance i'm installing the Rename Mod found here: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=98910.0

I adapted the code from the default in order to change orange-lt, like this:

<file name="Themes/TP_orange-lt/Display.template.php">
<operation>
<search position="before">
$mod_buttons[] = array('text' => 'quickmod_delete_selected', 'image' => 'delete_selected.gif', 'lang' => true, 'custom' => 'onclick="return confirm(\'' . $txt['quickmod_confirm'] . '\');" id="quickmodSubmit"', 'url' => 'javascript:document.quickModForm.submit();');
</search>
<add>

// Rename Topic
if (allowedTo('rename_topic_any') || ($context['user']['started'] && allowedTo('rename_topic_own')))
$mod_buttons[] = array('text' => 'rename_topic', 'image' => 'edit.gif', 'lang' => true, 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=renameTopic;topic=' . $context['current_topic']);
</add>
</operation>
</file>

Well it install smoothly and makes the changes well, but then i can´t see the buttons or text or anything. And the buttons are uploaded as well.

What is going wrong??? =/

@Stirred posting in both forums and PM me (nice way to knock on my door ;))

in orange-lt/display.template.php search for
if ($context['can_remove_post'] && !empty($options['display_quick_mod']) && $options['display_quick_mod'] == 1)
$moderationButtons[] = $settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '' : '' . $txt['quickmod_delete_selected'] . '';

add after
if (allowedTo('rename_topic_any') || ($context['user']['started'] && allowedTo('rename_topic_own')))
$moderationButtons[] = '' . ($settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '' : $txt['rename_topic']) . '';

in orange-lt/languages/modifications.english.php add
$txt['rename_topic'] = 'Rename Topic';
$txt['rename_topic_no_id'] = 'You must select a valid topic.';
$txt['rename_topic_current_subject'] = 'Current Subject';
$txt['rename_topic_new_subject'] = 'New Subject';

and upload the image below to orange-lt/images/english/

I know this can be a little too much, but can you give me these lines too (same issue) for the Thank You Mod, is the last mod that i can´t have it working:

<search for>
if ($context['can_remove_post'] && !empty($options['display_quick_mod']) && $options['display_quick_mod'] == 1)

$mod_buttons[] = array('text' => 'quickmod_delete_selected', 'image' => 'delete_selected.gif', 'lang' => true, 'custom' => 'onclick="return confirm(\'' . $txt['quickmod_confirm'] . '\');" id="quickmodSubmit"', 'url' => 'javascript:document.quickModForm.submit();');
</search for>

<add before>
if (isset($context['thank_you']['premission']))
$mod_buttons += array(
'lock_thank_you' => array('test' => 'thank_you_lock', 'text' => 'd_thank_you_lock'.$context['ThankYouLockStatus'], 'image' => 'thank_you_lock'.$context['ThankYouLockStatus'].'.gif', 'lang' => true, 'custom' => '', 'url' => $scripturl . '?action=thankyoulock;topic=' . $context['current_topic'] . '.0'),
'remove_thank_you' => array('test' => 'thank_you_delete', 'text' => 'd_thank_you_remove', 'image' => 'thank_you_delete.gif', 'lang' => true, 'custom' => 'onclick="return confirm(\'' . $txt['d_thank_you_remove_warn'] . With the help of a friend I got the code to make Thank You Mod working nice, here it goes:

if (isset($context['thank_you']['premission']))
$moderationButtons += array(
'lock_thank_you' => '' . ($settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '' : $txt['d_thank_you_lock' .$context['ThankYouLockStatus']]) . '',
'remove_thank_you' => '' . ($settings['use_image_buttons'] ? '' : $txt['d_thank_you_remove']) . '',
);

panic one thing, can you send me your psd files for the forum buttons? I need them to translate the buttons to Portuguese. When i'm done ill add them here. =)

Thanks for such a great template, it is quite simply the best smf template I have ever seen. I have implented a variation of it on my bridge Joomla site at http://www.thestudenthouse.co.uk.

I was wondering, for reasons pertaining to the bridge, How can I prevent avatars from displaying completely in your template, in both posts and in the header?

Excellent work.

I've modified it into a purple-ish version for a forum I run Here (http://rmrk.net) if you're interested. An opinion would be great =D.

I've had a little trouble getting the ad management mod to work with it, though for now I'm not too bothered, and can do without it.

Also, (though maybe I simply missed it) I couldn't work out how to make the forum stretch horizontally to take up the screen at whatever resolution (say like the default SMF theme does).

Hello,

I just installed the theme on www.soccergrip.com/forum ...

Here is my question though:

I'd like to add a nice big banner on the top, but I can't do that since the news box is cutting off the banner at half. I tried disabling the news box but it just shows a blank space and a little part of the banner on the left. Can someone tell me how to display a whole banner on the top of the forum? If the news box has to be taken off, that's fine. I just want to be able to put a big banner up there.

Some template files in this theme can be renamed so that SMF calls the default template files to get the ads to show up, other template files in this theme have to be modified manually. I have done it a couple times but you do lose about 10 to 20 % of functionality from the ad mod. It does not create any errors though that I know of.

Thanks! ;D

the easiest version:

disable the news
in styles.css
#logo, #logo a {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
display: block;
width:440px;
height: 111px;
background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat;
padding: 30px 0 0 30px;
color: #999;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 24px;
line-height: 24px;
font-weight: bold;
}

change width to

width: 868px

visin try to install the global headers and footer mod as mentioned by Bigguy (not tested myself)
or, to get the add below the "user center":

in index.template.php
replace

    ' , showcase(), '

';

with

    ' , showcase(), '

AD CODE
';

Coon

it looks like you are NOT using the custom header option described in the theme's README.

Here is what you need to do:

For your header image use logo.png

hight: 111
width: 868

see the styles css to change this (#header and #logo)

in the admin interface - custom theme -

- select "Use Custom Logo/Header Image"

- disable the news

in styles.css
#logo, #logo a {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
display: block;
width:440px;
height: 111px;
background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat;
padding: 30px 0 0 30px;
color: #999;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: 24px;
line-height: 24px;
font-weight: bold;
}

change width to
width: 868px

#header {
position: relative;
height: 111px;
overflow: hidden;
background: #232833 url(images/header-bg.png) repeat-x;
}

remove the background

in the index.template.php remove the header-l and header-r DIVs to get rid of the corners.

As promissed I attach the buttons in portuguese that come with the translated Thank You Mod, Rename Topic Mods as well. The font was changed for better seeing.

Some of them weren't translated because they aren´t use in our forum, here you have. Enjoy it, camaradas portugueses! ;)

ATTENTION: The website you're downloading this file from has ADULT CONTENT. So if you're under 18, just click the link and download the file without entering the main website!

(http://www.hentai-portugal.com/downloads/add_poll.gif)
--> DOWNLOAD HERE <-- (http://www.hentai-portugal.com/downloads/portuguese_orange-lt.zip)

If you're gonna thank anyone, dont do it to me. Cause I didn´t do anything. All the work was done by 0uK^-, a team mate from that website.

Thanks again Panic for giving us the possibility of doing the buttons to our language.

This theme is not showing the visual verification for sending PM's in the Final 1.1. Only admins are able to send.
That is the ONLY thing I am finding wrong with this theme.

updated
theme to fix missing verification image in personal messages

in PersonalMessage.template.php
search for
// Subject of personal message.
echo '

<b', (isset($context['post_error']['no_subject']) ? ' style="color: red;"' : ''), '>', $txt[70], ':

';

add after
if ($context['visual_verification'])
{
echo '

', $txt['pm_visual_verification_label'], ':

';
if ($context['use_graphic_library'])
echo '

';
else
echo '

first off install the mod with the package manager from your admin panel, then modify the following. I know this isnt in the actual html editor window but i hope it can help anyways.

In the the boardindex.template.php look for this:

                     ', $txt['most_online_ever'], ': ', $modSettings['mostOnline'], ' (' , timeformat($modSettings['mostDate']), ')

';

Replace it with this:

                     ', $txt['most_online_ever'], ': ',
$modSettings['mostOnline'], ' (' , timeformat($modSettings['mostDate']), ')

';

   // Users online today

   echo '

', $txt['uot_users_online_today'], '

';

   echo '

';

  echo $txt['uot_total'], ': ', $context['num_users_online_today'], '';
  if (!$context['user']['is_guest'])
     echo ' (', $txt['uot_visible'], ': ', ($context['num_users_online_today'] - $context['num_hidden_users_online_today']), ', ', $txt['uot_hidden'], ': ', $context['num_hidden_users_online_today'], ')';

   // Assuming there ARE users online... each user in users_online has an id, username, name, group, href, and link.
   if (!empty($context['users_online_today']) && !$context['user']['is_guest'])
      echo '
', implode(', ', $context['list_users_online_today']);

   echo '
', $context['show_stats'] && !$settings['show_sp1_info'] ? '
            ' . $txt['smf223'] . '' : '', '

';

The Modifications.English.php (if thats what your using) this is the entire file unmodded:

<?php
// Version: 1.1; Modifications

$txt['pdx_forum_button'] = 'URL for button that returns to your main (Home) page : ';
$txt['pdx_forum_button_desc'] = 'Input URL here when the button where it returns to the top on your site is necessary. If it is a blank, the button is not displayed.';
$txt['pdx_forum_button_forum'] = 'Forum';

$txt['header_logo'] = 'Use Custom Logo/Header Image';
$txt['header_logo_desc'] = 'If checked the a custom image (orange-lt/images/logo.png) is used for the header (instead of the forum name). Use the logo.png as base for your own image';

$txt['theme_version_attention'] = 'Hide theme version attention';

// The one to press translation of Modifications.english.php
$txt['necessary_to_translate'] = 'Necessary to translate';

?>

Replace it with this:

<?php
// Version: 1.1; Modifications

$txt['pdx_forum_button'] = 'URL for button that returns to your main (Home) page : ';
$txt['pdx_forum_button_desc'] = 'Input URL here when the button where it returns to the top on your site is necessary. If it is a blank, the button is not displayed.';
$txt['pdx_forum_button_forum'] = 'Forum';

$txt['header_logo'] = 'Use Custom Logo/Header Image';
$txt['header_logo_desc'] = 'If checked the a custom image (orange-lt/images/logo.png) is used for the header (instead of the forum name). Use the logo.png as base for your own image';

$txt['theme_version_attention'] = 'Hide theme version attention';

// The one to press translation of Modifications.english.php
$txt['necessary_to_translate'] = 'Necessary to translate';

$txt['uot_users_online_today']='Users Logged In Today';
$txt['uot_yesterday']='Yesterday at ';
$txt['uot_total']='Total';
$txt['uot_visible']='Visible';
$txt['uot_hidden']='Hidden';
?>

hope that helps, you shouldnt have to modify anything else with this theme

Hi. I am having a slight problem. The bg gradients behind the category titles seem to glitch up. Sometimes when i go to the index or when i scroll up and down the page they go nuts and dont show up or partly show up, as shown in the image below. They are just white areas. Once i hover my mouse back over them they show up though. Also if i hover my mouse over the nav buttons they re show up. This is kind of unattractive and would be nice to know what to do :)

Ignore the first message (as you're using SMF 1.1.1 you can disable that in admin) and just copy Modifications.english.php from languages, rename it to Modifications.turkish.php (translate it yourself) and upload it in your language directory of this new Orange theme :D

You have the quick reply in your options.
Current Theme --> Reset Options

Then under the theme you want to work with choose
Reset default (guest) options for this theme
It doesn't reset it, but you can change it in this screen along with other
options such as Return to topics after posting by default.

Well, I installed it successfully. Now I want to add a Google leaderboard under the menu at the top of the forum; I've done it before with the default theme but the code here is different (I'm a total noob with PHP code). Can someone please tell me where exactly to place it.

Edit : also I would like to know the exact color code of the orange used in the forum titles.

Thanks,

I've also got the same message as the turkish fella:

Attention of orange-lt theme:

This theme doesn't correspond to the version of SMF that you are using. This theme is made for SMF 1.1.
If you want to use it anyway (on your own risk!) you can disable this message in the admin panel:
admin- configuration - current theme (above the save button)

...even though i just (15 minutes ago) installed smf 1.1 (for the first time). Why is it not recognising the correct smf version?

Also the nneonneo's Shoutbox package is not appearing anywhere in this theme - i'm not sure if that's a problem with the theme or package, i was wondering if anyone else has their shoutbox visible?

Thanks.

How can I change the orange color when you go over the top menu items, such as HOME, HELP, SEARCH, etc. ?

Also, when someone click the logo, it takes them to the home of the forum. How can I add a different URL when someone clicks the top logo. I want them to go to another site.

Nice layout it's smashing. I was wondering if you could tell me how to add a REPLY button on the bottom of the thread page. Some of my topics are very long and my posters want a reply button on the bottom and I'm sortof confused as to how to do it.

Thanks very much,

The ad mod is the easiest way to get the banner on your site. here is the link to it http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=255 as for the color code of the links look in the style.css and look for this

a {
   color: #F4B12C;

change the color to whatever you wish

Have you ever installed a mod on a non default theme before? Its just like that. When you install a package through the package manager it installs it on the default theme and nothing else so you have to edit the files for your theme that did not get edited when the package was installed.

This is what you need to do

FTP into your site, go to the themes dir, go into the orange-lt theme (remember to backup any file before you replace the files)
Do the following

download and open index.template.php

look for

';

and add this after it

   //Display ads on the top of the page
   $ads = show_topofpageAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      if($ads['type']==0)
         echo $ads['content'];
      else
         eval($ads['content']);
   unset($ads);

now look for this

add this after

';
                     //Welcome Ads
                     $ads = show_welcomeAds();

                     if(!empty($ads))
                     {
                        echo '
';
                        if($ads['type']==0)
                           echo $ads['content'];
                        else
                           eval($ads['content']);
                        echo '
';
                     }
                     unset($ads);
                  echo '

look for this

   template_menu();

and add this after

   //Below the menu ads
   $ads = show_indexAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      if($ads['type']==0)
         echo $ads['content'];
      else
         eval($ads['content']);
   unset($ads);

   //Tower left Ads
   $ads = show_towerleftAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      echo '

', $ads['type']==0 ? $ads['content'] : eval($ads['content']) ,'

';

   unset($ads);
   //Tower Right Ads
   $ads = show_towerrightAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      echo '

';
   unset($ads);

look for this

   // Show the "Powered by" and "Valid" logos, as well as the copyright. Remember, the copyright must be somewhere!

add this before

   //Close table for towerright ads
   $ads = show_towerrightAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      echo '

', $ads['type']==0 ? $ads['content'] : eval($ads['content']) ,'

';

   unset($ads);
   //Close table for towerleft ads
   $ads = show_towerleftAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      echo '

';
   unset($ads);

   //Show ads on the bottom of the page
   $ads = show_bottomAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      if($ads['type']==0)
         echo $ads['content'];
      else
         eval($ads['content']);
   unset($ads);

save the file and upload it back to your dir (backup original file first!)

now download and open  BoardIndex.template.php

look for

// Show some statistics next to the link tree if SP1 info is off.

add this before

   //Display ads on the board index
   $ads = show_boardAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      if($ads['type']==0)
         echo $ads['content'];
      else
         eval($ads['content']);
   unset($ads);

save and upload that file

now download and open  Display.template.php

look for

global $context, $settings, $options, $txt, $scripturl, $modSettings;

add this after

   //Display ads on the thread page
   $ads = show_threadAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      if($ads['type']==0)
         echo $ads['content'];
      else
         eval($ads['content']);
   unset($ads);

now look for

   // Get all the messages...
   while ($message = $context['get_message']())
   {

and replace it with this

   //Ad Counter
   $adcounter =0;
   // Get all the messages...
   while ($message = $context['get_message']())
   {
      $adcounter++;

now look for

';
   }

and replace it with

';
   if ($adpost = show_posts($adcounter))
   {
      echo '

';
   }

   }

save and upload that file

now download and open    MessageIndex.template.php

look for

global $context, $settings, $options, $scripturl, $modSettings, $txt;

add this after

   //Display Ads on the Message index
   $ads = show_threadindexAds();
   if(!empty($ads))
      if($ads['type']==0)
         echo $ads['content'];
      else
         eval($ads['content']);
   unset($ads);

save and upload that file

that should be it, hope it works

When someone click the logo, it takes them to the home of the forum. How can I add a different URL when someone clicks the top logo. I want them to go to another site.

Also, is there any way to make two separate columns for the posts and threads?

to make it so the logo goes somewhere else go into the index.template.php and look for

echo '

';

and put whatever url you want in there for example

echo '

';

panic, thanks... that worked!

Now, is there any way to make two separate columns for the posts and threads so that post and thread counts are not displayed in the same column?

Also, I changed the color code for the main menu buttons that are orange, but they still show up in that color. Do I have to change something else. Take a look at www.soccergrip.com/forum. It's still orange on the top.

ShopHRM,

Unfortunately, this does not work; for instance, there is no
'; in index.template.php. Also there are many of
, it's not one.

Is there another way to make it work or if not a way to add a google leaderboard under the menu without the ad mod ?

Also, is there a way to make it say Posts and Topics once on the top, as a subject line, and then just the numbers below that without the word posts or topics next to it? Using SMF 1.1.1

I really dig this theme, very clean and prof. looking!!

I changed the orange text to a navy blue and altered the text sizes a bit (gettin' old, the teeeeny fonts are too hard on my eyes). Otherwise using per original zip.

One thing is driving me nuts -- I've tried all the obvious settings, e.g. --

        [ ] Show latest member on board index

but cannot eliminate the --

        "... Latest Member: Username ..."

from displaying on the top of the page when logged in or the login screen (shown below highlighted in yellow).

(http://i13.tinypic.com/33upvdz.png)

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Great theme! I looked at every theme available, and this is by far the best! No offense to the other designers ;D. But I have a question.

I just installed SMF using fantastico ( took the lazy way out :o), it's version 1.1.1. I just installed your theme and in the header it says that it is for 1.1, and is not compatible with 1.1.1.

Can I still use this, or is there an updated version of this theme somewhere?

I have two questions.

I love this theme. It's very clean and doesn't look junky. My headers and footers did not deposit at top and bottom but where they ended up I kind of liked so I kept it this way. I did not really relish losing the curved corners and the thought of trying to get them lined up ....well, you know how long that can take.

Thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

And I did a new button for "statistics" I am happy to share if anyone is interested.

The first problem can be solved in the index.template.php file. Almost right at the bottom you will find all the code for the buttons. Remove the one you don't want.
Title: Re: ORANGE-LT
Post by: webmistress on January 17, 2007, 01:07:27 PM
Thanks bigguy.

So far I have been able to remove admin (put it back, though) but I can't remove "Home" or "Forum" without getting an error code. I just want to take out one or the other.

Perhaps I'm trying to take out too much code with it. I'll give it another go.
Title: Re: ORANGE-LT
Post by: webmistress on January 17, 2007, 04:32:40 PM
Okay, I resolved the issue of the mouseover color. This is the stylesheet entry and the color there is the color I used to recover the sliver in photoshop. I like the orange as the color is different from the standard blue on most forums and websites.

#nav a:hover {
   color: #eee;
   background: #E79800 url(images/hover-bg.png) 0 0 repeat-x;
}

I had actually done this previously but apparently did not have permissions set right so the image did not upload. If anything I know stylesheets so this was bugging me.

I guess you could take out the image and just put a color in there for the hover. But I've not tried that yet.

You haven't looked into the readme.txt coming with the theme, have you? :D

Or have you read the description in the admin interface:
QuoteURL for button that returns to your main (Home) page :
Input URL here when the button where it returns to the top on your site is necessary. If it is a blank, the button is not displayed.
;D

mouseover: That's right, you have to replace the image or take it out

My fault, sorry! dmw3913, you are right!

It took me hours checking the themefiles to find what's wrong.

The solution (belive it or not):

NEWS FADER IN IE

in the styles.css
change
#mainbody {
margin: 0;
padding: 0 5px 0 5px;
background: #fff;
}

to
#mainbody {
margin: 0;
padding: 0 5px 0 5px;
background: #ffffff;
}

and change
/*** fonts ***/
body {
line-height: 125%;
font-family: "Lucida Grande", Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #444;
font-size: 11px;
}

to
/*** fonts ***/
body {
line-height: 125%;
font-family: "Lucida Grande", Tahoma, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color: #4444444;
font-size: 11px;
}

HI stephancelmare360!

the code in the index.template.php you need to play with is:

';
if (empty($settings['header_logo']))
echo '

', $context['forum_name'], '
';
if (!empty($settings['header_logo']))
echo '

';
// Show a random news item? (or you could pick one from news_lines...)
    if (!empty($settings['enable_news'])) {
    echo '
', $context['random_news_line'] , '
';
    }
    echo '

Disable the news or remove the news code above.
To remove the corners delete

in the code at top.

Now you need a logo/header image 900px might be the right width I am not sure with this.
After that you need to change the width in of the logo in the styles.css
Look for #logo, #logo a

You've changed some colors maybe you did change some other things. too?

the css class for those texts is:
.smalltext

What code should I look for to find the text size for that column?

hello,

I have some problem and i need to fix it.
For my website, I allow avatar size to 200x300 pixel
but I want to see it with fully size, not auto scroll as the picture i attach.

(http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b115/prejudice/avatar.jpg)

How can i fix it?

thank you

You'll have to edit display.template.php and make it so the cell that displays the avatar etc has a fixed value and not a percentage.

First of all i've to say: Very great theme. I love it!

But I've one problem: All sticky topics are also listet as Announcements, although "Announce topic" is not checked. How can I change this? They should appear at the top of the board, but not as announcement.

Thanks for your help!

By the way: Where can I find "Announcements" and "Postings" to translate them? In the german version these phrases still are in english.

Thanks!

Chris

This is by design. Sticky topics are seperately displayed.
in MessageIndex.template.php

if ( !$isSticky && $topic['is_sticky'] )
                        {
echo'

';
                                $isSticky = !$isSticky;
                                echo '
                                        Announcements

';
                        }
if ( $isSticky && !$topic['is_sticky'] )
                        {
echo'

';
                                $isSticky = !$isSticky;
                                echo '

I have a strange problem; I installed ORANGE-LT07 on a freshly installed SMF 1.1.2 but the topic buttons such as "MARK AS READ", "NOTIFY", "NEW TOPIC"

are not there ! they appear as text, and they have no spaces in between

Also the same thing inside topics

Why is that ?

Hehe, yeah but it pulls up a bunch of them. What I need to change is the font size for the forum board descriptions. For example, it says:

Board 1
- Description about the board.
Board 2
- Description about second board.

I need to change the font size for the description parts. What do I need to look for?

Also, from my previous question, how do I take out the words "topics" and "posts" from the topic numbers on the front page of www.soccergrip.com/forum ?

I checked your page. It could be because your page/database is set to utf8 encoding.

look for

Hi Photoshocker!

To put a link back to your homepage you have two options:
First you could use the "extra home button" feature of this theme (see README.TXT of the theme)

or change the links in the code below (index.template.php):

if (empty($settings['header_logo']))
echo '

', $context['forum_name'], '
';
if (!empty($settings['header_logo']))
echo '

';

Hi, after installing a mod for awards only the profile section of the theme has changed. The fonts are bigger.

This is how it looks in firefox

(http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1972/untitled1wo4.th.gif) (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled1wo4.gif)

and this is in IE

If i revome this part of code from Profile.template.php everything is visual ok (but the mod is not working).

I need to create an additional row on the top that reads Topics and Posts. Then I can do what you did. If I don't have another row that says Posts and Topics on the top, nobody will know what those numbers are. ;)

I really want it to look like this: http://www.soccergaming.com/forums/

Where it says Threads and Posts on the top and then it lists the numbers below without the words Threads and Posts.

EDIT: Also, how can I add a comma between the numbers. Instead of 1000, how can I make it say 1,000?

@ roger rabbit:

Have taken a look at the mod. With this one it is a little different as this mod does not modify any template files by its own. Anyway, it is very easy if you just follow the instructions on the mods DL page below
QuoteMaking the shoutbox appear:
Still having problems? Well, you need to tell me where this mod should appear on your board.

@ thegto:

The buttons are images and for each language you are using you will need a seperate folder containing these images with the name of the language you are using (like images/english/ images/german/). Using utf8 you may also need to rename the directory to images/egnlish-utf8/ ans so on. On the download page of the theme you will find the PSD-file for the buttons to create your own or just use the english ones by copying them into your thai dir.

One of board in my forum mostly consists of threads with long MML codes. (Without spaces or break)
The first problem I noticed was that "Break up word" function in admin panel wasn't working for some reason. (Maybe becaues MML codes consists of special characters? I don't know for sure)
Althogh I don't personally prefer scroll bars in the post, I thought to myself that it's better than
long lines breaking the template design. so I moved on and started checking Profile section.

Then I found the second problem. When the list of View Posts by the user was shown,
the post scroll bar didn't appear, causing the template design to break horribly.
I checked whether the same thing was happening in other internet browser applications, and it turns out FireFox works fine, while IE 6 doesn't.

[IE6] http://4urworld.net/choco/1.jpg
[FF] http://4urworld.net/choco/2.jpg

I was wondering if anyone can help me solve one of these problems. (if you can solve both, that's great!)

Edited:

Similar problem occured for Topics and Posts table, when I changed the css to be flexible with browser size.
It only happens to the ones with child boards though.

I am about finished with the customization I believe, but I noticed my "forum" button at the top just disappeared. How can I restore it without overwriting anything I've done?

@rogger rabbit:

open the Modification.english.php of the default theme and copy the shoutbox relevant code into the Modification.english.php of the orange-lt theme. done

@ozzietraveller: Well hard to tell what you've changed. Download the theme again and compare the Modifications.english.php and compare the tab section of the index.template.php

Brilliant!! Thanks very much. I figured out at which point I lost my forum button in the process: when I changed the english-utf8 file to 'Modifications.english-utf8'. Then at one point I figured out that I needed to create a folder in the Images directory called 'english-utf8' so that certain images would show up on the General Discussion section. The only code I work with is CSS and HTML, so I'm not sure how to tackle this one because those mentioned images are now missing again. Thank you again for your help.

You'll have to edit display.template.php and make it so the cell that displays the avatar etc has a fixed value and not a percentage.

could you point out which value to adjust?

i looked in the display template and changed a div value from width:100% to width:200px, and that eliminated the scrollbars, but made it so that the avatar overlapped into the message area

Problem with different browsers:

I just installed the orange-lt theme on my webside and add the add management mod and the contact button on the menu.

Now it looks pretty well if you use IE, but if you use Netscape 7.1 the menu looks ugly. Has anybody an Idea how to fix that so that It looks the same for all browsers?

Hi, thanks for your reply. are right. It was the contact button.

Wrong code:
Quote// the [contact] button
   if ($context['allow_view_contact'])
      echo ($current_action == 'contact' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '

' : '' , '

' , $current_action == 'contact' ? '

' : '';

correct code:
Quote// the [contact] button
   if ($context['allow_view_contact'])
      echo ($current_action == 'contact' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '

' : '' , '

Cool. Many thanks. Just one last question. How can I integrate a sitemap?

Thats the code I had in the default theme index.template.php:
QuoteSitemap

Unfortunately I have no idea how I can integrate that in the orange-lt index.template.php.

It should be next to Powered by SMF 1.1.3 | SMF © 2006, Simple Machines LLC

Finally it should look like:
Powered by SMF 1.1.3 | SMF © 2006, Simple Machines LLC | Sitemap

I don't want to use the English language buttons on my site; I'd much rather use bold text for the buttons quote, modify, delete, reply, notify and print.

My users (and myself) keep getting "No unread topics found since your last visit. Click here to try all unread topics" when we click on the "new.gif" in a category (board). You actually have to click on the category name in the linktree/breadcrumb (at the top or bottom) to get to the topics (message index?).

Do you have any idea as to what is causing this? I've looked through Display.template.php and MessageIndex.template.php for errors, whitespace, etc...but I just can't figure out why this happening.

Could really use some help on this ASAP. Thanks!

If you click on the on.gif/off.gif (category image) you will only see new posts of this category if there are any.

If you click on the category name link you will get to all category posts.

If you want the category images to link to all category posts do the following:

in boardindex.template.php
find
';
and replace with
';

Hi, I'm having some problems with this theme. I followed the steps on page 3 about how to add a full width banner, and everything's worked so far, except one thing.

http://www.shahidonline.net/forum/

I can't seem to get the banner centered over the forum. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Also, the text next to my avatar is pushed right up against the avatar.

Example: http://xs119.xs.to/xs119/07384/Image1.jpg

How can I move the text a bit to the right, so it's not right next to the avatar?

If you do not use the avatar-resizing of the theme
change

Hi,

in your case this is what the code should look like:
index.template.php

';
if (empty($settings['header_logo']))
echo '

', $context['forum_name'], '
';
if (!empty($settings['header_logo']))
echo '

';
// Show a random news item? (or you could pick one from news_lines...)
    if (!empty($settings['enable_news'])) {
    echo '
', $context['random_news_line'] , '
';
    }
    echo '

style.css
#logo, #logo a {
position: absolute;
top: 0;
left: 0;
display: block;
width:868px;
height: 111px;
background: url(images/logo.png) no-repeat;
padding: 30px 0 0 30px;
color: #999;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;

I've been digging aorund for a way to do this but so far, I cannot find a way to increase the size of the showcase avatar. It appears to be set at 65x65 but I'd like to increase its size (as the avatar appears in the showcase).

Where do I do this? I tried adding size to this code (index.template.php) but can't get it to work:

if (!empty($context['user']['avatar']))
{
$context['user']['avatar']['image'] = strtr($context['user']['avatar']['image'], array("class=\"avatar\"" => "class=\"avatar_t\""));
echo '
', $context['user']['avatar']['image'], '
';
}

Why do this? I have avatars set at 100x100 (max.) but when a user has an rectangular avatar (e.g. 100x70) the image is squashed when it displays in the showcase. It looks terrible and amateurish to say the least. :o

EDIT: I should note that I don't want to increase avatar size inside the showcase to 100x100; I want avatars to appear inside the showcase in the same manner as they appear inside posts. For example, a user uploads an avatar that's 100 pixels (width) by 70 pixels (height)---the user's avatar will display at 100x70 in posts because its equal to or less than my 100x100 avatar setting. I just want the same thing to happen inside the showcase, but it doesn't and I can't get it to work.
Title: Re: ORANGE-LT
Post by: padexx on September 24, 2007, 03:55:42 AM
Hi Cavan!

With avatar size set to 100px max you don't need/want the resizing, right?

So in the syles.css search for
.avatar_t
{
height: 65px;
width: 65px;
border: none;
}

div.profile_info {
  margin-left: 80px;
}

remove the height and width of the code above. You also may need to change the margin-left to move the user-info to the right.

Bizarre issue when viewing my site in IE6...

In the first image, I've just opened up the browser; notice the cat-bg.png is only appearing above the 2nd category:

(http://www.thekiltedman.com/images/smf/1_cat.gif)

In this second image, I've actually done nothing but open Photoshop to save a print screen image of the web site; the cat-bg.png is now gone from the 1st and 2nd category:

(http://www.thekiltedman.com/images/smf/2_cat.gif)

Finally, in this image I've scrolled the window from top-to-bottom and the cat-bg.png appears as it should:

(http://www.thekiltedman.com/images/smf/3_cat.gif)

I think this may be a CSS issue in relation to how poorly IE can display CSS...or is it something else?

I don't experience this in Firefox 2.0 or Opera 9...I'm stumped.

@Cavan
You are right this is some kind of strange css display issue in IE. I couldn't solve the problem after a quick look into the css. I think it has something to do with the shadows floating around the mainbody. Needs a closer look...

Normal users can't see the admin link by default. Maybe you've changed the theme files or have set wrong permissions for your users.

Any one use this theme and also try Wikipedia BBcode mod?

The mod does not work with this theme.
Once we insert the code in the post ([wiki=..]...[/wiki]), the code is not translated into a wikipedia link, and i cannot uninstall the mod also (a blank page returned)

This does not happen with the default theme. The mod creator also said that manual changes are needed only when the theme has its own post.template.php (not for the case of Orange lt)

Also, after posting, if we change the forum theme to default them, then we can see the wikipedia link!

This does not happen with Youtube bbcode mod (created by the same one)

So, i think there is something to do with the theme's display.template.php?

(I ask this in the mod thread http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=108660.40
but no one can help :()

orange-lt has its own Modifications.english.php.
You need to add

$txt['wiki'] = 'wiki';
$txt['wikipedia'] = 'Wikipedia';

And where it shows the paper curl type thing, how would I be able to capitalize the 'y' in 'you'? I'm a stickler for proper punctuation and it's annoying me.

My forum is set to private, so here's a screen shot. I've circled in red what my issue is. I linked to the screen shot, as it is rather long.

do you have the markread.gif in your "images/english/" folder?
QuoteAnd where it shows the paper curl type thing, how would I be able to capitalize the 'y' in 'you'?
a default text string ( $txt[152] ) is used for this. either change the $txt[152] in the index.template.php of the theme below
// Only tell them about their messages if they can read their messages!
or change themes/default/languages/index.english.php
$txt[152] = 'you have';
may effect other text parts, too.
QuoteI'm a stickler for proper punctuation and it's annoying me.
well a "," behind the user name may be a solution, too. ;D
edit

', $txt['hello_member_ndt'], ' ', $context['user']['name'], '
in the index.template.php

Sorry this took so long to get back...

I do have the markread.gif button in my image folder. I'm not sure why it's not showing up correctly, because all the others do. Which page do I go to and double-check that the filepath is correct?

Thanks for the punctuation help. Everything worked great once I figured out I had to edit two separate pages to get the 'Y' to capitalize. haha.

Also... how would I get it to say "You have 0 messages, 0 are new." or "You have 1 messages, 1 is new."? I have a general idea, but when I add a comma to default/languages/index.english.php in the following section, it adds it as part of the link and doesn't remain when there is a new message.

$txt[151] = 'No messages...';
$txt[152] = 'You have';
$txt[153] = 'messages,';
$txt[154] = 'Remove this message';

I know, I have a lot of silly questions.

Hi biggestanafan!

I am afraid I don't understand. Do you want a banner to appear in the newsbox or do you want it as background (or something completely different :D ) ?

And check your homepage. The header is not displayed correct in FF and Opera.

Hi again  :)

Did you use the logo.png as described in the theme's readme.txt file?
If you use other dimension for your header picture than the ones of the logo.png the theme's css files has to be edited.

Maybe you could attach the image to your post.

Well, but you've completely changed its dimensions. :D
By doing so you've to edit some other files, too.

Download the edited_files.zip, extract it and overwrite your files with the ones in the archive. And select "use custom header/logo" in the SMF admin panel under "current theme".

change the

But this will change the textsize in other parts of the theme, too! Because the smalltext class is used very often.

Hi Panic,

First off...thank you for such a terrific theme. I looked at all of them, that come with SMF. This is my favourite.

Second off, I'm a php newbie so please go easy ::)

My problem...

I'm trying to wrap my site template into the forum, more specifically into your index.template.php.

Everything works fine until I try to add a simple include, like so...

include('hello.php');

...and that gives me a template parse error.

I've tried various similar code, to no avail.

I am missing something simple here, I realise, but after dozens of threads, php tutorials and literally half a dozen coffees, I am proving immensely blond.

I guess it's that for some reason a straightforward php include won't work, else needs some special commenting in a scenaio like this, but what and, I'd love to know, why?

While I am practicing with a hello world type include, this will actually be used to include my navigation system from another php app (from my navigation chunk in modxcms). Therefore i am under the impression I must use an include to the relevant API doc, rather than echo.

...I may be wrong!

I would be grateful for whatever light you may be able to throw, for less coffee but maybe more donuts ;D

Olly.

I am a clot. Quite a happy one, mind.

After hours trying to work this out, it dawned on me I could simply use regular hyperlinks.

Silly sod.

Now the forum template is wrapped inside my website, or well on the way.

But...I am still curious, how is it possible to pull in php files using include/require/include_once statements, within a php doc such as this theme's index.template.php? Or is that just not the done thing?

Many thanks again for this sleek theme, Panic, and to all SMF contributors for a cracking forum.

Finally got this theme set up how I want it (I do love it :D), but I just tried to post something up, and when I click POST, I get this message:

Hi KTR Oliver!

Does this happen only with your edited version of orange-lt? Did you try a clean theme install and tested it? Do you use the right theme version with the right smf version?
I've never heared of this error before. :-[
Title: Re: ORANGE-LT
Post by: KTR Oliver on March 28, 2008, 01:44:23 PM
Hi panic,

It's actually working fine now. I did try out a clean install first, but can't remember if I tested posting, but all I've done to it since, is darken the orange for the links, and added a banner, and redirected it's url value.

The error that I mention, refers to the SQL database being full, and it did only happen with the orange-lt theme, but it's actually stopped doing it now, so all is well I guess.

And yeah, I assume I'm using the correct version - orange-lt114v1 with SMF 1.1.4?

Thanks for your help anyway. And the theme is well good :D

Hi Panic, i have a bug in my portal JOOMLA+SMF http://www.hcplanet.uni.cc/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=2& look that in the header and footer ... and check the wrapper in the smf ... how can i fix that :S
i was editing the style.css line per line and nothing ...

please help :D
Title: Re: ORANGE-LT
Post by: padexx on April 30, 2008, 04:04:36 AM
Hi psxsxm,

this is a common issue. If you use the wrapper of joomla to "include" another page into your main page the styles of both get loaded after each other.
First the stylesheet of the wrapped page gets loaded and then the css files of your joomla template.

This means the joomla template styles "overwrite" the (shared) styles of the wrapped page.

i.e:
if both designs use #header or div#header like this

smf styles
#header {
position: relative;
height: 111px;
overflow: hidden;
background: #232833 url(images/header-bg.png) repeat-x;
}

joomla styles
div#header {
height: 60px;
background: url(../images/head_bg.png) repeat-x;
position: relative;

}

the following style is used:
#header {
overflow: hidden;
background-color: #232833;

height: 60px;
background: url(../images/head_bg.png) repeat-x;
position: relative;
}

solution:
rename the styles definition of one theme in its css and template files.

i.e. div#header -> div#jom_header and id="header" -> id="jom_header"

Hello, and sorry to bother you.

I have a forum I am transferring to another host,
and the buttons are misbehaving.

I wanted the "Mark as read button" but it only shows the letters. . .

BUT . . .

. . .it only shows the letters on the :

Show unread posts since last visit.
Show new replies to your posts.

. . .links. The rest of the boards show the mark as read button just fine.

It's a bothersome, nit-picky thing which shouldn't even
be a concern. . . but it digs at me, you know?

Is there a way to fix this?

Here are some screen shots:

Ah. I see. When I installed the new forum I must have installed
a previous version of orange.

May I ask a favor? I have a heavily modified board. Would this affect it?

And, alternately, would there simply be a line of code I might insert
which would allow for this?

I understand that the whole theme should be updated, and I will if that is
the only alternative, but if I may simply insert a line of code, that would be ideal.

Is there a line of code I could write in the old version?

And thank you.

There is more than one line of code that's got changed.

For heavy modified boards:
I always suggest to use a tool like winmerge (freeware) to compare two files and see what has changed

Hello,
Love your theme, am new to SMF and this suits the best.
1. I have a couple of questions.
How do i change the colour of the text to say Bold, the text in the forum looks fine, its the head of the forum that is in a grey box that looks to light. Just want to bold that up or change just the colour in there.

2. How do i add extra links at the top, say for a link to twitter, facebook or maybe even but them in a banner at the top right if that is possible to use that space.

3. Also, any suggestions about making the theme better would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanx again for the theme

Hi

I have installed this theme for my two forums.

After inserting SA Facebook mod code, the style of text changed.

Could anyone tell me how to fix this and what is the reason happened this.

See attached before and now pictures for more information.

my index.template.php is also attached.

Refresh your browser by pressing F5

It will be fine. I just took a look and it looks great.

Is it possible to use this theme with SMF 2.0? If not, can it be ported to 2.0? I've used this theme before loved it, so I want to use it on my new forum.

Haven't tried yet, and I would reccomend starting here:

Also? Poke around here:  http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=34.0
