Title: SMF Big Boards
Post by: Deaks on September 14, 2008, 05:40:17 PM
SMF has an exclusive board for forum owners who have over 500,000 posts where owners can talk and share tips about how they manage such large boards from both a technical and administrative angle.

Currently we've been searching for sites that meet the criteria however we'd prefer not to leave anyone out and so feel it is time to get the word out and allow anyone we haven't already discovered to step forward and get counted.

The only requirements that you'll need to meet are running an SMF site with at least 500,000 posts

If feel you are eligible please apply through the Group Membership area of your profile and we'll contact you shortly.

Only another 490,000 to go XD. Although I dunno if there is a point. Most people stick with SMF and then go to IPB or VB... :/

Not exactly there are several big boards over 500,000 posts. And from what I see IPB and vB are A LOT slower than SMF. I can list 4 forums off the top of my head with over 500,000 posts.

Odd that we have 80 users in that group then, and this is before it has even been announced publicly, these are just people whos site the support team have come across and invited.

Hassan, you need to have at least 500,000 existing posts.

Having a big board can bring issues such as backups, clustered servers etc. This is what the board is intended to offer - peer support with other big board admins.

If you prune your board then you might not ever have the same issues as a big board.

I'm very curious how you manage the attachments directory. Do you have only one attachments directory?

If the question is off topic , pls delete.

I would be interested to know which boards have the most daily posts.

I know www.hogville.net/yabbse would be up there.

ormuz, while we appreciate the sentiment, that doesn't tell us who actually owns the boards (at least their account on here if they have one), and the listings on the site are awfully out of date. There are a lot of users waiting over three years to get added.
