Nice work. Very nice, in fact. I thoroughly approve of this one. What's next, and didn't you claim you were retiring from this game?

Can't seem to get logo on header to change on headliner theme???
When I replaced the Alogo.psd and logo.png files with my own, then re-compress and installed; my theme does not load correctly. The page turns white and has no graphics...
I am currently running the Anecdota theme and I change the logo the same way...

also, I have searched and searched for almost a month to find a way to get the ad mod and gallery mod to work. ( the default theme parsers for these do not match up the custom theme when it comes to some coding and file names). are there any parsers made for specific themes?

Any help would be much appreciated.

if a custom theme does not contain a file that needs to be edited you can simply skip that step because the theme uses the file from the default theme.  Also which version are you using 1.1.X or 2beta4?
Title: Re: Headline

I'm using 2.0 beta 4. Now do I skip the step completely or do I make the change to the default theme file?
Title: Re: Headline
Post by: NEMINI on January 14, 2009, 01:19:29 PM
package manager will make the changes to the default theme, as well you have the option to let the package manager attempt to install in custom themes where needed too.

The width issue is a real killer because the extra buttons I've added have rolled beneath their allotted space.

  • How do I adjust the width of the display area such that it is like it is in the demo?
  • How do I alter index.template.php so as to include the Ad Management mod?

The width issue is a real killer because the extra buttons I've added have rolled beneath their allotted space.

Title: Re: Headline
Post by: midas on January 23, 2009, 07:01:16 AM
Crip, thank you for that.  I'd had a quick scan of the css file but missed it.  I suppose I was looking for something under body.

I've adjusted the width.  Before anyone else points it out, I'm aware that it'll display differently in different monitors but at least I know it'll display properly on some monitors.

I've discovered that the Ad mod does display ads at the top and bottom of pages but not as columns (which I imagine could be a good thing).  Still, if anyone does know how I can integrate it into index.template.php then I'd like to too.

Again, thank you  :)

How do I convert the following three items into a drop down menu under the title of "User Center"?

    // Edit Profile... [profile]
        if ($context['allow_edit_profile'])
      echo '<li><a' , $current_action=='profile' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=profile"><b>' , $txt[79] , '</b></a></li>';

    // Go to PM center... [pm]
       if ($context['user']['is_logged'] && $context['allow_pm'])
       echo '<li><a' , $current_action=='pm' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm"><b>' , $txt['pm_short'] , ' ', $context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0 ? '[<strong>'. $context['user']['unread_messages'] . '</strong>]' : '' , '</b></a></li>';

    // the [member] list button
      if ($context['allow_memberlist'])
      echo '<li><a ' , $current_action=='mlist' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=mlist"><b>' , $txt[331] , '</b></a></li>';

I'm not a php'er but have managed it with two other menu items by clumping them together like so:

    //GALLERY
    echo '<li><a class="chosen"><b>Galeries</b></a>
    <ul>
    <li><a' , $current_action=='gallery' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="........"><b>Gallery</b></a></li>
    <li><a' , $current_action=='gallery2' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="......."><b>Gallery 2</b></a></li>
    </ul>
    </li>';

Therefore I thought that I'd be able to make a "User Center" menu by using this:

    //Resources
    echo '<li><a class="chosen"><b>User Center</b></a>
    <ul>

        if ($context['allow_edit_profile'])
        <li><a' , $current_action=='profile' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=profile"><b>' , $txt[79] , '</b></a></li>

    if ($context['user']['is_logged'] && $context['allow_pm'])
    <li><a' , $current_action=='pm' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=pm"><b>' , $txt['pm_short'] , ' ', $context['user']['unread_messages'] > 0 ? '[<strong>'. $context['user']['unread_messages'] . '</strong>]' : '' , '</b></a></li>

      if ($context['allow_memberlist'])
     <li><a ' , $current_action=='mlist' ? ' class="chosen"' : '' , ' href="', $scripturl, '?action=mlist"><b>' , $txt[331] , '</b></a></li>

    </ul>
    </li>';

But all I'm getting is a template parse error.  I've tried it with the " echo '....'; " bits and without; I removed them [echo's] because I noticed my original drop down menu only worked without them.

Any ideas, anyone?

Headline theme SMF 2.0 Beta 4... The ad positions seem to work fine in all positions except as follows:
*the Left Tower position will not display ads.
*the Right Tower position ads are displayed in the Bottom Position.

(Also looking to reposition ads to Center instead of Left Margin under menu position).

I have tried getting some assistance @ smfads.com; but no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having a problem.  It is a great theme, however it displays a large amount of white space after the post title and date time stamp, and the text of the post.

I'd include a screen capture but this forum does not allow for that.

Hi there!

I am using the Headlines theme on the 2.0 version of SMF, and after I log in, I have a "Welcome Back, name" message in the right-hand corner, but at the center top it still says "Welcome Guest, please login or register."  That's true whether I'm logged on as a user or an administrator

Any idea how can I get that to go away?  I am brand new at this!  I love the look of the theme, by the way.

Thanks!
Hilary

I dunno what causes that , do you have a SS ?

If you want, you can remove that center bar that is up on top of theme .... BTW:  it works correct for me on 2.0

Zero12avity, you can center the ads by using,

<div align="center">
ad code goes here
</div>

Great theme! Thanks so much.

I have one little problem:

Anytime a post gets edited, the edit line pushes the signature out of alignment -- shoves it over to the left by about half the screen. Pretty unsightly. How can I fix this?

I am viewing in Firefox. I haven't modified the theme much (just changed link color and the header logo). I haven't done anything to the signature or edit line.

Thanks!

Hi, it is great theme but it is a problem when mods are not working.
Primarily AdMod. I am using it for ads and Google Analytics.
When I use mod for additional header and footer I get double Analytic code in footer. I think I will have switch to other theme.

Yo Crip, I sorted the IE6/IE7 topmenu bug for ACAMS. Easy to fix so might as well go in your next update, although God knows why anyone would want to use IE6 or IE7. :D

Quote from: Antechinus on December 29, 2009, 03:19:33 AM
Add this to ie6.css and ie7.css:

#toolbar {
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
height: 33px;
background: #fffffe;
}

There are a couple of other odd css glitches too.

#topmenu{
background: url(../images/img/topmenu-bgr.gif) repeat-x top;
height: 33px;
margin: 0 0 20px;
margin-bottom: -20px;
}

Is better as:

#topmenu{
background: url(../images/img/topmenu-bgr.gif) repeat-x top;
height: 33px;
margin: 0;
}

#searcharea has  overflow: hidden;  inserted twice. One instance of it should be removed.

Also this:

.windowbg, .windowbg2, .windowbg3, #preview_body, .content, .roundframe
{
color: #4444444;
background: #FFF url(../images/img/winbg.png) 0 0 repeat-x;
}

is invalid as it has seven numbers in the hex code. It should be #444444 or even just #444.

Was wondering if u or anyone could help me out with a little thing.

and if not, maybe a way to get them aligned, even though on the bottom? mine is skewed to the left.

its smf 1.1.11
turned out it was an ultimate profile mod problem making the menu aligned to the bottom-left.
however since that is the case, is there a way to disable this link-menu in my screenshot from the profile page?

Title: Re: Headline
Post by: ACAMS on April 10, 2010, 05:32:31 AM
I have a problem with my theme for 2.0 RC2.

I installed Aeva Media and get this welcome message

Welcome to the gallery section, powered by Aeva Media. To delete or modify this welcome message, just edit file /Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php and add this line to it:

$txt['aeva_welcome'] = 'Welcome.';
  You can also change the text directly from within the admin area. This is simpler but you lose the ability to translate it to multiple languages.

I edited the Modifications.english.php in the default folder like it said, but Headline and Black Racer....both by Crip did not change to my new welcome message.....all the other themes did.
What do I need to do to fix this?

this part of the footer "Headline Design by: © 2009, Crip".
Is it acceptable if i make it "based on 'Headline' by Crip" or something similar? can i buy the license or something to remove it? i dont wanna disrespect your work, and i want a nice looking footer.

also, are we really not allowed to remove the smf version number in the footer? i mean the copyright and all left behind, but the actual version of the board -has- to be visible? sounds like a vulnerability.

I wish to change the Headline logo,,,,,,
When I use my banner it is too large! It is 100 by 700 and only fits in the allowed space.

Is there any way this can be changed to allow my banner, or how can this be done if not?

1000px is suggested min-width: ==>Lower such as 790px will lap menu items..

I updated to RC3 and really like this theme......THANKS

I had a few problems at first, but they are all worked out now.

xnathansxdadx, if you or anybody else has a problem with the header I know how to make it bigger and look right (up to a point)
100 by 700 may be a tad too long, but you can still try it.

No, lol. I actually want to change what it points to now to something different... Since RC3 I know they changed the link_tree menu to script from somewhere. However from the life of me I cant find where. My guess is somewhere in the default theme maybe. I did it once but cant remember how?!

Excellent theme, many thanks for your effort!!  :)

I have replaced the 'Headline' logo on the top left with my club name; now I would like to place the club emblem in the top center of the site, between the club name on the left and the login info on the right.

How do I do this?  :)

thank you,

Lou

The quick reply for my headline seems to be set to 600 column spacing which makes the quick reply window go all the way off the theme endlessly.. I cant see to find where to change this option though!? Any ideas?

Hi Crip,

Congrats for this very modern and clean theme.

I'm testing it for a new forum on my localhost machine. I need a wider logo (~600px) to include the image and forum name on the header. I've changed the dimensions on css (actually you add an "important" note there) :D.

Anyway, the wider logo just fit on the theme's header smoothly, except when I re-size the browser window and it overlaps the login area. Is there any css trick to auto adjust this element to browser width?

Thanks in advance,
Ed

Solved

Template index.css (line 59) - increaded the "min-width"

Hope not to have config problems in the future!!!
