I only had time to work on it for one version. As most people will be moving to SMF 2 in the future it seemed natural to choose that verison now, rather than create it for 1.x and then having to migrate it to 2.x. Also, my own forum is running 2.x

I don't think you realise the effort it would take to provide a version for what will effectively be a superseded version of the SMF forum software. The main challenge is around keeping two versions of data access functions, as SMF2 uses a completely different access mechanism. When you get to the stage where you are comfortable migrating to SMF2 you will have access to this mod too.

Thanks for donating your time and whatever you want to work on is fine with me, at least.  I pay folks to do work for me all the time - if there are enough folks here who want something outside a donated module then they can pool a few bucks and pay for it.

You did not read what I said, I posted "what, ever" notice the comma and space! So, I was asking if you mean't you would not be upgrading "ever". That was a serious reply, perhaps you should read more carefully!

I have spent a lot of time on this mod, I have tried to be as helpful as possible, I don't understand why you would think I would not be helpful.

Tell me about it. I wrote this mod for my forum and then thought "oh, other people might like this too". So I put in a lot of effort to make it available for others and now I have had a lot of ungrateful comments. Hey, I wasn't expecting gratitude, but not some of the moaning I have seen. the problem is not to add the code to other than english language files
the problem is that you have the allready played error message in every quiz if you have other than English language selected from your forum profile.

please try to your forum to choose French or German (i tried with German) as forum language
then try to play whatever quiz you normally could play
you`ll see the "allready played ......" error message ...
then select English language from your profile, try again and you will play just fine

Also, on the Quiz Importer on my site it's a white background with white fonts, I did see the Themes/default/css/quiz_css/quiz.css file is that the correct file for the Importer Section in the Admin or just for the Quiz itself? Can you point me in the right direction?

My forum is in French and when I select the English language from my profile control panel, there is no error at all.
I tried to copy all the content of the mod from the English language files into the French ones but it was with no success.

I removed the php to chmod them files and install worked when running manually, I then chmodd them files and now all works ok and quizes can be played and installed.


Is it possible to show the games in catergeries at the top? Has mine are all shown in New Quizes & Popular Quizes.....


Can a catergories section be added so all quizes are in cats? Hope your able to help and what an excellent mod this is, just need a way add catergries to page so people can view each cat and find quizes.

Not that I've seen.  That would bee a cool mod though.  Instead of membergroups being requestable or paid or free to join, it would be cool to have a membergroup function that allowed members to take a test to figure out if they got into a group.

I am using it fine on RC3.  If you go to the Mod Author's website, I downloaded 1.0.8 b3 package there and installed it on RC3.  There was only one error from Subs.php, that I needed to do manually, but that was because of another Mod that I used which changed the code it was looking for in the package.

Also, I double checked and I emulated RC2 in order to allow the install on RC3.

Sorry the file or folder: Quizes already exists in /SITE/Themes/default/images/quiz_images
Using that, I looked....   when the mod created, it did not create empty folders for Quizes and Questions... it created two 0 byte files...

I deleted the 0 byte files, created the directories...  and *LO* the missing stuff appeared! Including the save and upload....
it looks like the system error in the upload function not finding the directory kills the rest of the page. from the dropdown (the error gets displayed IN the dropdown box)

The problem with working with something you developed is that you developed it! :)  you *KNOW* what everything is supposed to be doing.   It took me years of tech writing to figure out that every detail should be documented because you'll always find someone who doesn't get that one detail which you didn't document.  O:)

I'm guessing that the error is the result of there being no option to select the category when defining the question.

First thing you need to do is install the quiz even though you dont have any images or questions.

Once you have done that then go to your cPanel for your site, run 'phpMyadmin' and delete the 12 tables that start with the name smf_quiz.

Once you have done that, open the file 'create database tables for quiz.sql' in 'Notepad++' if you don't have it installed get it...it's free, and this will not add any formatting to the text either which is very important.

I have just installed this on a fresh install of 2.0.2 and there were no errors at all. I have also changed the database files as i described and have a fully functioning quiz.

I might have changed some code in the original package. So I have attached it below. You do not have to delete the tables to re-install the quiz.

I have no plans to...all I'm doing is trying to help out someone who's stuck...the file I have attached works for me so I am sharing it with others. I am not a coder and do not have any training as such... this is just a hobby...nothing else...if I can help someone along the way I will.

The original poster of this mod has abandoned it and said that anyone can take it over so I don't really see that there is a problem with sharing the file....unless you know different!!!

The quiz installed perfectly well on my 2.0.2 installation of SMF
The only issue with the package, as presented on the mod site, is that the smf quiz site is gone, so there are no more notices or quick packages.

As for emulation:   in the package manager, scroll down to the bottom of the packages list and click on the link labeled "Advanced". Change 2.0.2 to read 2.0 RC4 and then save. Now the "install" link should not appear for the quiz mod.
When you're done, go back to the advanced link and click the "revert" button and then save.

EDIT #2:  Those errors appear to be related to the QUIZ ADMIN side not the continual loading issue... as the error log shows a much earlier time for the errors vs when I've attempted to play the quiz.

The quiz window still just... sits there... loading...

EDIT #3: I verified the 12 QUIZ files are in the mySQL database.   The questions are there... answers... what not... the proper graphics are where they are supposed to be... the quizzes all load up on the menu... graphics etc... I can choose a quiz... when I hit the PLAY triangle button it pops up the quiz window... which sits there...

No error is generated evidently.

I do not get any errors at all when using the quiz or when going to any other area of the quiz headings i.e " Home, Categories, Quiz Leagues, Statistics, User Details, User Quizes"

I have attached the template to this post but as I say it will show errors in the error log..even though it works. It's up to you if you want to use it.

Furthermore the support links that the installed mod have listed no longer exist.

I have a total of 6 quizzes added.  I had, recently, made some file replacements...as you had suggested in a PM...remember?

Afterwards...I cleared the stats because I changed the time it should take to answer a question...and reset all the stats so that all who took the quizzes could take them, again, under the new settings.

So far...only one quiz has been taken...under the new time settings.  This person did not miss a question.  So, if the 'percentage_incorrect' is "0"...then, there will be an issue based on the code Kindred requested, correct?


Edit...

Now that someone else has taken the quiz...and when I click "Statistics"...that error no longer appears.
