You don't need a mod. It's a standard feature.

Profile>Personal Message Options. (Oddly enough) ;)

I'm not understanding...

If you want to PM a message to everyone, go to Admin>News and newsletters>Newsletters and send them a message, from there.

If you make sure "Send this to these groups using personal messages." is UNchecked and "Send this to members even if they have chosen not to receive announcements." is checked, they'll get it via e-mail, anyway.

The OP seems to want e-mail notifications of PMs to go out to members by default.

I also believe this is what he is asking and I have the same question...

Is it possible?

Thanks!

I don't think it should enabled by default in standard SMF, because many people consider unwanted emails as spam. Unwanted meaning something they didn't choose themselves (which is what happens when the forum automatically starts sending them: they didn't choose themselves).

I agree that it shouldnt be set to "on" by default.

However, I have the Ultimate Profile setup on my site and would like when a comment is left on someone's page that they were to receive an email stating such. As of now, it just simply sends a PM to the user. If I could have the PM's generate an email, it would solve this issue.

Thank you!

I'm trying to figure out how I can make it so that users don't get an email when they receive a PM by default...

Right now for some reason it's on by default.. how can I change this?

Everyone have problem, because hotmail, gmail mails who smf sends are checked as SPAM!And activation links don't working!
Should SMF company do something?

the links not working is an issue that the email provider has to fix, it is not an smf issue as we use valid url's, also marking emails as spam is an issue the users need to deal with, smf and sm has no control over who uses the software and what server they are hosted on and if it is marked as a spammer or not.

there is no best smtp provider, most hosts offer smtp if needed.
