Hello Community,
The
Simple Machines Team is opening a competition to you all to design a background image for the Simple Machines Forum Twitter (http://twitter.com/simplemachines) page (http://twitter.com/simplemachines).
We are looking to usher in some elegance into our social networking pages, and want the community to be part of it. :)
To participate, create a compatible twitter background image and send your submissions by e-mail to
[email protected].
The contest will run for two weeks. If you're new to designing images, be confident in yourself, you might be lucky!

Simple Machines Charter Membership (http://www.simplemachines.org/charter/) or one year extension to an existing charter subscription.
Guidelines:- All work must be your own work.
- Your submissions become the sole property of Simple Machines, LLC
- If you use a layer file, such as a .psd, please enclose it too.
- The background must of course be related to SMF and contain a SMF logo

Good Luck,
The Simple Machines Team
Good luck to everyone...
soyez le premier? ;D
Mmm. I guess I will join this contest. :P
/me Photoshop calling me!
This is not fair... I don't have any graphic skills at all. I would love to participate but, I can't even make a text banner.
/me goes ahead and cries himself to sleep.
Anyways, this competition should be great and I can't wait to see what the graphic people in this community can create!
Can you post the logo you want included?

Good luck to everyone
Twitter limits the amount of tweets... So automated systems can't tweet every minute... technically it's spamming :x
I see some good submissions already; Keep them coming :)

Lets hope there are many to choose from. :) I'm gonna send in a couple of ideas too.
A bit off-topic: maybe a future contest could be for a proposed new site-look? Based on or inspired by Curve theme for example..? Might be interesting for people to have a crack at.

Well that would go against keep this site as close to the original download as possible, but you mean adding it to the package as an additional theme for people to use on their sites? That would be really cool to see actually, but i'm not really sure how well that would work in practice.
No, I meant a design for this site actually...but you are correct: if the team doesn't want the added custom theme (it should not be too bad if just index.template/css were changed though ;) ) to the site, thats a no-no then.
But if thats not a big(ish) issue, it could be interesting to see what people come up with. Theres also the static content on themesite/modsite/downloads/about etc. that could be taken in consideration then. I am aware it might be a daunting task, personally I don't fel that..but that might have something to do with me working on those things when I was on team lmao.
In any case: a contest COULD be used as a sort of "idea-tank" where - if the team wants - a sitetheme could be made from later on. It would also show how perhaps interested designers would perceive SMF in the future.
But again off-topic, my apologies for that.
wow, Good luck Everyone!

I think Bloc's idea isn't that bad... or maybe a contest for the theme of the new SMF version... in the future...
Good luck everyone

If you know team work, you know that you need time to have each work member, team vote or opinion...

Alright folks, sorry for the delay! Here is what you have been waiting for.
We have had many submissions for the Twitter background which all are very nice designs. That made it very hard to pick the best one.
After very carefull consideration and a vote by the team, the winner to the contest is: Bloc!
Congratulations Bloc!
The winning design can be seen on our Twitter page:
http://www.twitter.com/SimpleMachines/

Hm, I see the joke lol, but I do mind a bit actually..because if everyone thinks like that, giving up before even trying, how will anything be improved..?
Personally I see A LOT of vastly superior designers to myself around the net..I know I will have a hard time even reaching their basic skill level lol, but that actually inspires and spur me on to continue to try - and learn something on the way. It doesn't discourage me knowing this. (well, usually not for long then haha ;D )
That is an awesome design Bloc and well done
didnt say people should have given up but Bloc you know yourself the likleyhood from what you see was gonna be slim for you to lose.
Maybe if i entered you would have had a better chance of loosing :p
Yup. :)
next time :p
can we see the other entries please im curious
Congratz Bloc!! Really nice one.
Damn cant believe i missed this, would have liked to show off some of my gfx :(. Grats bloc :D
