Nice mod, thanks. :)

It seems that i make a ico file to the Themes/../images/smi/ folder and its ready to use. There is no more settings to this mod? In the Administration Center » Modification Settings » Simple Menu Icons is just the enable Simple Menu Icons option.

smf 2.0.3  default theme simple portal 2.3.5

Can you pls clerify "if you add new buttons, you don't have to make manually changes, only add images"

Will the image name be the same with the button name ?

eg.  Google Tagged   is the button, what will be the image name ?

Doesn't mean I have EVERYTHING.
You can always find or install a mod and then ask here to add it.

Regards.

When i get home i attach you de image to upload.

Thanks for the clerification.  I have the famfamfam icons copied to my locak disk, so I can use one of the proper one for
Google Tagged.
My quesiton was the naming convention.
If I copy one of the famfamfam icon and rename it to "Google Tagged.png" , will it work ?
Thanks

nb.  I tried what I planned but didnt work.

No, I can't see the mod right now as I said.
Check what you see on ?action= and type the name of the action for name de image.
Don't now if is right because i can't see in this moment.
Try with that.

Regards

?action is the answer.  Copied an icon and renamed to tagged.png  and worked  ..

Thanks again.

i will be using this mod soon once i figure out how to install it
as it is showing an error in .sources/subs.php   so i will have to change that manually.

as for the icons i gather that you just name them the same as the tab?
ie. home would be home.png
admin would be admin.png
etc etc
and then upload the image to the smi folder

Please read above for file name convention.

"Check what you see on ?action= and type the name of the action for the name of the image."

Place your cursor on the menubutton  for that funciton and look down left for the name in the browser after "?action=xyz"
xyz is the file name for the image.

I made a minor change to also show icons for third level/grandchildren menus.

Maybe you installed the mod twice, or you have also the other mod "menu icons" installed at the same time.

Do you mean adding an icon to another button?
You just have to upload your icon in Themes/default/images/smi/
Remember that it has to be named action.png
If your page is something like action=contactform
Then the icon name should be contactform.png

Hi!

I installed the Simple Menu Icons mod on SMF 2.0.7 but the mod was in a conflict with the theme so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately, something of it was not unstalled properly because in the mod settings in the admin panel there is an empty space in the submenu which is linked and points to a page with url .... /index.php?action=admin;area=modsettings;sa=smi.... But as there is no Simple Menu Icons Mod, it points to Miscellaneous.

Can you help me fix this bug? Thank you!

Hey there, just use follow the instructions of the parser for the mod. But in an inverted way. If you have problems attach the file/files. (ManageSettings.php, Subs.php, Admin.php)

Thanks a lot for the help! I found the line that caused it in admin.php:

// Note the comma!! The setting with automatically appear with the first mod to be added.
                  'smi' => array($txt['smi']),

and I removed    'smi' => array($txt['smi']),
now it is fine

OK, so I should uninstall the mod, and reinstall making sure that the checkbox is checked for the installed theme also.  I believe it was, but will try again.  I apologize for the basic questions, but I have not had much experience isntalling mods for SMF.

Okay,

I installed the mod. It did say that it had issues with ONE of my themes, but that theme is not being used so I didn't "check" it.

Mod installed without issues.

Refreshed screen and no icons.  :(

Went and verified smi folder in themes/default/images folder.

Parsed for SMF ver. 2.0.11

Checked for each and every change and all changes were made.

Still have NO ICONS.   :-\

Hoping that some one will have some idea of what to do next.

Again, I am running SMF ver 2.0.11 ,  I have Ostara as the default template for 5 days now. I have the following themes -> "SMF Default Theme - Curve, Bright Forest, Habbingo, Habboland (didn't install on this theme because it failed) and Ostara

I have the following mods installed:
1.    Custom Copyright    1.0.4    Installed yesterday without any visible issues
2.    Simple Menu Icons    1.0
3.    SMF Gallery Lite    5.6    Installed 12 hours ago without any visible issues
4.    PM Warning    1.0
5.    Topic Solved    1.1.1
6.    Google Translate for SMF 2.0    1.4
7.    SMF 2.0.11 Update    1.0
8.    Optimus Brave    1.8.7   Installed yesterday without any visible issues
9.    Default_Membergroup    2.0
10.    Welcome Back    1.0      Installed 2 days ago without any visible issues
11.    Enhanced Dropdown    1.3
12.    Board-color-and-icons    1.1
13.    Caps_Lock_Detection_on_Login    1.1.0.2

I await a reply.

Be Well,

Hi,

The way I corrected this was to delete the search.png (magnifying glass) AND the admin.png (gear) = no icon,

then I uploaded the admin.png (gear) = no icon,

then I renamed admin.png (gear) to search.png,

and then I got the gear to appear next to Admin.   ;D

Not the right way, but it worked.   ;)

Hi Diego,

Want to use the Mod, but have some problems. I have installed a few Mods that add buttons to the Menu, like Notepad, Like and Enhancement to recent posts, which have sub menus.

In the second one, the "Posts" & "New Posts" (child of Posts) both use "action=unread". How do I deal with that ?
Notepad has a "pop up in new window" option that also uses action=notepad. Any suggestions ?

Hi skb,
I believe to answer your question, the person answering will find this information helpful:
- What MODs are installed?
- What Theme are you using?
- What SMF version are you using?
- a link to your site can be helpful.

The only thing you would need to know is the action.
Once you got that, you just go to the SMI folder and add your icons, the name of each file should be action.png

I sorted out the problem with the Right Click / Open image in New Tab
and then using those names. With the action="name" process I was having difficulty with things like this
action=unread;all;start=0

Hi Diego,

I am using ver 2.0.11

I installed a newly created theme, and I have installed SF Knowledge Base Mod and SMF Article Mod, and SMF Gallery.

The menu didn't appear on the new theme so I un-installed and re-installed. Worked perfect.

Problem = Knowledge Base, SMF Article, and SMF Gallery are in the menu, but there are no icons for them.

I know to upload the attached ones to Themes/default/images/smi, but don't know how to write the path to them.

I thank you in advance for any help you can give.

You need to name the icons with the menu action.
E.g, if the gallery link says action=gallery, the icon should be gallery.png

Another method. Right click on the missing icon and select "open image in new tab". That tab will say 404 / Not found but will give you the name for the icon that the software is searching for. Upload your icons with those names & it will begin to work.

The purpose of the mod is to add icons to the menu.
If there is no image "directed" at the menu item, that menu item will appear like this   Profile Profile

i like the mod

I like the little icons because it looks nice.

what I mean is that I have many options on the app bar and the doubling up of the functions without the little icons goes over 3 lines.

eg. Downloads, Knowledge Base, Gallery - all mods that end up on the app bar ... i have 95 mods on.

no problem, just thought it would be an easy change.
