Guests Can't see threads

I need a mod for 1.1rc3.  I need it to make my forums so that guests can see the boards and click them to see the threads, but I want it so that when they click on a thread they get a login or register box?  Could someone do this for me?

A quick and dirty solution is:

Open "display.template.php", "recent.template.php", "printpage.template.php",

find (at the end)

This is dirty because it doesn't hide the posts from search results or email notifications.
