[SMF Converter] XMB - 1.9.8

For my board - 35 users, 13,000 posts:

I run the converter, everything goes fine except for one major problem we're having.

It seems to trim down all of the posts that are above a certain length.

Any ideas?

Are you using the file in the first post?  I fixed this a while ago.

Ran the latest.
Now i get this problem:

    p.tid AS ID_TOPIC, p.subject

Caused the error:

    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'p.tid AS ID_TOPIC, p.subject

Redownload the file.  Seem's like a few characters where chopped off.

XMB - 1.9.7 is last version

I am having a major issue with the convert.php function.  We did a "test" forum a few months ago and it worked fine.  However, this weekend we went to convert the actual forum we want to convert from XMB to SMF... and ran into problems.

We copied the database to a "convert" database.  We have a "test" forum that we keep up (for experimental things)... and we set up this XMB "test" forum to use the "convert" database.

We then tried to convert that database to SMF.  When we did this... it seemed to be working... however it never finished.  The page never even changed from the one where I input the information for the forums and the password.  When we go back to look at the database... our phpMyAdmin is locked up.  We also can not delete the "convert" database to try to start over... it to is locked up.

This is causing major issues and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I am having trouble with the converter.  I am converting a XMB 1.9.6 rc2 to SMF 1.1.3.  I go to the convert.php, and change the path for the XMB to "/home/mysite/public_html/forums" and put in the password for the database.

I hit enter and the page just grinds for a while, changes the address to hxxp:www.ambushsite.com/convert.php?step=1 [nonactive] and I get the following error: "The request timed out before the page could be retrieved."

I went into myPHPAdmin and can see that the users, categories, and boards were imported, but the only message I see out there is the default message from SMF.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Did you try to refresh and see if it continued?
It seems like apache is timing out and the script isn't able to stop it in time.

Yes, I did.  I can go into the mySQL and see that it only went so far before it died.

Are there particular instructions on how to do this locally?  It sounds like that might work better.

Update:  I went home and ran the convert.php on the site from there.  Apparently the timeout must be on the proxy server because it ran and did the conversion.  It apparently also over loaded the SQL server because it restarted 4x during the conversion process.  Oops.

This might be a dumb first post for me to put here, but after running into a similar issue (my XMB converted to SMF nicely, but all the text in the posts was cut short or missing half the message etc...) and going through a bit of frustration, here's what I did and I hope it helps someone else...

I was converting from XMB Nexus 1.9.3 (or thereabouts) and the conversion went OK except for the text in posts being cut-off issue. I saw people mentioning to download the sql file in the first post in this thread, but I didn't see the attachment. OK, duh... you have to be registered here on this board and logged in to see the attachments! ;-)

So, I went back and:

1. Downloaded the convert.php from http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_1-1-2_xmb_converter.zip

2. Downloaded the xmb_to_smf.sql file from http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=140744.msg897640;topicseen#msg897640 (the attachment is there if you are registered/logged in on http://www.simplemachines.org/community to see / download it) and overwrote the old xmb_to_smf.sql with this new one.

3. Uploaded the existing convert.php and the new xmb_to_smf.sql file to my SMF folder on the server and re-ran the convert.php (after logging in of course)

That fixed it! Now the forum categories have the correct names, and the existing posts have the full original non-truncated text.

I know this was probably a "dummy" post, but it just might help someone who is going through the same frustration that I did.

Caused the error:

The xmb database is about 3k topics, 30k posts and 1,5k users.
Is there solution for my problem?

In previous post i used convert.php and xmb_to_smf.sql files from http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_1-1-2_xmb_converter.zip.

Now i downloaded files from http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=140741 and http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=140744.0;attach=30180, and continued conversion where last one(the one in my previous post) stoped.
I copied new files over the old ones and clicked on "try again", now i get:

I overwrited files, worked ok until it comes to smileys. Now i have problems with smileys. I don't even want to convert those.
Is there a way to skip smileys conversion?
Also, procesing my database keeps long time, is there a way to continue conversion at some point if something goes wrong?
My XMB database is in latin1, but i have mixed data in it that is utf8(cyrilic) and latin1. What i need to do if I want to keep all those cyrilic data(posts, signatures, etc) in the right way?
