Ability to make specific words become URLs?

A few people have mentioned a possible feature whereby when a specified word is used on the forum, it automatically becomes a URL.

I first saw this in an Invision forum, and apparently phpBB has a hack that can do this.

For example if I, as an Admin, were to set the word 'widgit' to become the url h ttp://www.widgitwebsitethingy.com, then whenever anyone typed the word 'widgit', SMF would automatically convert that word to
[iurl= http://www.widgitwebsitethingy.com/]widgit[/iurl].

* Note that I used the [iurl] tag as I would have thought that this feature would generally be used within the same domain.

This feature would be very useful for forums with a helpdesk type of function to point users at possible FAQ type of help threads.

Obviously, this can be done via the word censor feature. Unfortunately, this has the side effect that if the word 'widgit' is used in the title of the thread, you get a horrible mess in the title.

Soooo. Anyone feel like attempting this? Or at least explaining how this could be achieved by manually editing somewhere?

Thanks.
