Posting in an old thread requires user to start a new discussion!

Hi

I know that you can set SMF to give a warning when a thread is old, or even lock that thread. However, I would like to be able to take that feature a couple of steps further.

I would like it so that when a user tries to reply to an old thread, that they are redirected to a new thread posting box and asked to start a new thread, with a message something like;

"The topic you are posting to is very old. If you continue, you will start a new thread on this subject..."

This gives the member the chance to make their posting more relevent to a new thread and give it a unique title.

My reasoning for this is that many new users come along and add a questions to old topics that are only vaguely related to that topic. They then don't get the feedback that they might get if they started a new topic. However, many new members can be somewhat nervous about posting a new topic for the first time and so this method is a more 'gentle' way to introduce them to this.
