I managed to pretty much crash my site :) (a test site anyway) by messing with the PHP code in some files and want to re-install SMF. I can backup my database using the 'admin' Forum maintenance menu. So i just wanted to know how to restore the old posts, messsages, members etc. after re-installing. I only have a cpanel interface to my site.
So what must i do after re-creating the database etc. (also does the database have to have the same name as before?)
The problem is choice

After restoring the database, upload the smf files and edit Setting.php to reflect the database settings and run the repair_settings.php script available on the downloads > convertors and tools page.
Liverpool FC Forum with 14 million+ posts.

I did a fresh install after crashing my site.   Using sqlmyadmin, I deleted all the tables that the install created, and uploaded my database.  Worked great! ;D
