Ive looked around and cant find the compression setting on uploaded avatars.

At the moment, GD is automatically resizing them - however the file sizes are quite large(20-30k @ 90px wide/high) and I would like to reduce image quality by 10-15% which would hopefully reduce the file size.

How cab I do this - any ideas would be appreciated :)

Thanks in advance,
Tony,

Try Admin > Edit Features and Options > Avatars > Untick Use PNG for resized avatars?, that should help a bit.

Well, you can always change the quality of the re-sized image...

Find (line 176 in my copy)
imagejpeg($dst_img, $destName);

Replace
imagejpeg($dst_img, $destName, 70);

0 = very poor quality and small size
100 = very high quality and large size

The default is 75, so you can probably go a bit lower without really affecting the overall appearance of the image (at 90x90, you're not going to notice the difference as much as you would if the image were larger).
