will modding a board mess up future update releases?

IE...  I know Editing YaBB Gold.... and some other boards could/would mess up the board from being able to be updated at a later time when newer update releases came out... then the mods had to be removed... update installed, and then reinstall mods.

I am not doing custom mods... just mods located here at SMF (in the menu).

I appreciate the help.

telling from the past version of SMF, the Mod authors have kindly updated their Mods .. but to make sure you can directly ask the Mod author
Really sorry .. real life is demanding my full attention .. will be back soon hopefully :)

I'll do that... I don't care so much about the mods updating when we update to new SMF releases... but I am more concerned that I'll have to remove the mod before updating SMF.

If I have to remove the mod so the SMF update process does not mess up... I am not going to mod.

See what I am saying?  I think I described it ok this time :)

Well, you shouldn't have to remove mods before updating, but upgrading will often "uninstall" mods.  You'll want to make sure you have the modification files, so you can apply them again...
