new to sm and got it all wrong???

I've installed it all like the instructions said, but it still is all wrong.  hxxp:www.adhdareus.net [nonactive] is the site.  what have i done wrong?  nothing working... can any one give me a cliff notes version or point me in the right direction as to where I can look to a better way to see what i'm doing wrong?

That error means that you have to wrong username or password for the database.
Run repair_Settings.php to fix it: What is repair_settings.php?

now i'm getting a differ error.

Make sure you CHMOD everything correctly.
How do I chmod? / what is chmod?

i did that.  but still no go.  i am so lost.  i don't know what to do.  i am starting to think this was a bad change.

Ok, I am totally lost.  I have it installed and still get the files uploaded, but cannot install it.  i'm going to give it up.
