backups files in packages folder

Inside my packages folder ther is a file called back ups and it takes up a hell of a lot of space. Is this something the forum software creates or did the guy who hosts my forum make them ?

SMF uses it to make backups of before/after mods. You can delete them if you wish.

Will there be a problem if I delete them ?

They do take up a lot of room.

If I was you, I would leave that folder be. It isn''t there for nothing

Can I save it on my pc rather than on the server ? Or does it need to be on the server ?

You can upload them back if anything when needed. I would leave it there if you still have space left. Or maybe cleanup old packages/mods that you have removed in the past already (if any).
