Hi! I had a problem with my old host. Their server went down. We bought a new webspace because we needed a large space and bandwidth as well.

I would like to reinstall the SMF in our new webspace because it's been a week and we still can't retrieve our files from our old host. Our members can't wait to post in the forum again.

The question is, if I reinstall a new one, can I overwrite the old files in the new one?

Thanks in advance for your reply. I hope you get my point.

So you want to install a new one, and then once you have your files back install that again?
You can restore a backup, but it's not possible to merge them.
So 3 options:
1) Start again from scratch
2) Wait untill you get access to the files again and use them
3) Start again and restore the old one once you have access again to the files. But all posts/topics/members that are created in the meantime are lost then.
