Is it possible to use the forum as a news tool?

I wouls like to use SMF as a news tool like this:

In the news page there is only the name of the topic and the date, if you click on the topic name it will send you to the forum page related.

I don't want to use a news tool, and the forum separated...so that i have to put every news on the tool and on the NEWS forum...i would like to make topics and have at the same time the news directly.

Is it possible?

You can do this with SSI.php see ssi_examples.php on your forum.
