Custom BBC Tags

I'm looking for this functionality.

The "card list" (as well as the accompanying text) has every card name linked by using a [card]name[/card] tag. This is obviously something that's been customized to their vBulletin to assist in their disseminiation of information about their game.

As the admin of a site/forums of a different game (and using SMF for several gaming sites now), I'd like to have this functionality as well. Are there any tutorials on BBC? Is this something that is fairly easy to set up? Is there anyone that might be able to assist me in understanding how to get this done?

BBC are parsed in Subs.php look for: function parsecode(&$message)
There is a tip about adding new tag though it is not what you are asking about but I guess will give you some help.
