Welcome email after successful member activation?

I apologize if this has been asked before (did not see it on my search results).

Is it possible to send another email to the user after they successfully registered via Member activation link?

I also wish there was a better "welcome email" system on SMF.  Hoping that version 2.0 makes the whole "welcome e-mail" feature easier to use.

As it stands currently there is an email sent once the member has registered there is no second email.

Regarding future versions of 2.0 I am sure this amongst many other features will offer improvements.
